A post about shirtdresses and ways to style them prompted an email from a reader who asked if it was o.k. to wear a shirtdress to work in summer?
It just so happens that I recently bought a shirtdress that I’ve been wearing to business meetings and after-hours too. Here’s a look at my new summer shirtdress.
Pinstripes shirtdresses are everywhere this summer. You’ve probably seen the casually smart looking blue embroidered shirtdress I wore to the rewardStyle conference, or the sassy ruched, ruffle hem one I often wear on weekends. Well, it seems as though this trend has really taken a hold of me because I bought another!
This one is a beautiful light purple, which makes it feel new and different. This dress is by Vince Camuto and features a button-up front with adorable ruching.
One of the reasons I love shirtdresses like this is that they are so crisp and sophisticated looking, especially when you turn up the collar. This is like a men’s shirt, but with a very feminine twist. Do you see those beautiful buttons? They’re so dainty. My pretty earrings are sold out but here are similar ones by Kendra Scott
Here’s a look a the beautiful ruching which is like origami folds. This is a great work dress because it has corporate air to it, but it’s nice and light for summer and very feminine at the same time. Plus the purple is so fashion-forward.
My white coach bag picks up on the stripes and makes them pop. On a side note- love this bag. It’s the perfect size for me and that gold hardware is just my style.
And these soft taupe/blush sandals blend right in. I like a slide in summer. It’s more relaxed than a heel.
