WHAT TO WEAR

Classy Jumpsuits for Weddings & Ways to Style Them

One of the most exciting things about going to a wedding is getting all dressed up. Most women automatically chose a  pretty cocktail dress,  but now there’s a fun, new other option. Classy jumpsuits for weddings are trending, and they look pretty fabulous! Here’s what’s out there and how to style them.

Wedding Guest - Pink Jumpsuit

Pretty Pink Jumpsuits for Weddings

Whether you are tired of wearing dresses, prefer to cover your legs, or want to look more fashion-forward, there are many dressy jumpsuits for weddings to choose from this season.  Pink is one of the most popular colors and is perfect to wear to a wedding because it is soft and romantic.

The most classy jumpsuits for weddings have some unique detail that sets them apart. For example, this one has tiny pearls around the collar and sleeves. This pretty embellishment gives the jumpsuit a very feminine and timeless feel.

How to Style it

You may wonder what color of shoes or bag to wear with a pink dressy jumpsuit? Black is too heavy and harsh, but a nude or off-white shoe/bag is lovely. Nude shoes, the color of your skin tend to disappear, making your legs look really long while keeping all eyes on your jumpsuit.

As for accessories, formal jumpsuits for weddings look best with formal jewelry. In this case, I’ve paired delicate pearl drop earrings with this elegant jumpsuit to mirror the pearl neckline and sleeves. The bag is sleek and fine, just like the jumpsuit. Everything is in harmony.

Floral Jumpsuits for Weddings

Floral dresses are always spot on for an afternoon wedding, so it’s no surprise that floral jumpsuits would be too. They’re a little less formal than a solid-colored jumpsuit but just as pretty. Here’s a beautiful yellow floral jumpsuit with flattering wide legs and a waist-defining wrap top. ( It also comes in blue).  Some kind of tie or cinching in at the waist is essential if you want to look great in any jumpsuit.

How to Style it

In keeping with the twisty wrap tie top, I’ve added twisty nude sandals. Wide leg jumpsuits look so much better when you wear a heel. A chunky heel looks more balanced with wide-leg pants.

These pretty pearl earrings pick up on the tiny white flowers in print, and the striped clutch bag adds a chic touch.

Black Jumpsuits for Weddings

Can you wear a black jumpsuit to a wedding? The answer is yes. Wear a classy black jumpsuit when you are attending a sophisticated black-tie wedding. This one above, with the keyhole neckline and flowy pleated pants, would look gorgeous.

How to Dress Up a Black Jumpsuit for a Wedding

The beautiful thing about dressy black jumpsuits is that, just like little black dresses, there are countless ways to dress them up. This chic, black, halter jumpsuit has been styled for a black-tie destination wedding. I’ve added tassel hoop earrings, a fan straw clutch, and sexy transparent slides to go with the exotic tropical location.

You could just as easily style this jumpsuit with upscale gold or silver accessories for a black-tie city wedding. A luxurious evening jacket would also work well over a jumpsuit like this if you wanted some arm coverage.

Can you Wear a White  Jumpsuit to a Wedding?

You’ll find lots of white dressy jumpsuits in stores, and while there is no official rule whether you can or can’t wear one to a wedding, I would suggest you didn’t.  Just as it is not polite to wear an all-white dress to a wedding, an all-white jumpsuit falls into the same category. You don’t want to look like you are trying to steal the spotlight or end up upsetting the bride. Save your white jumpsuit for vacation time.
