How to Style a Utility Jumpsuit to Look Chic

Utility jumpsuits, or boiler suits,  may seem like drab, practical workwear, but when you find the right one and style it just so, you can look fabulous. Here’s a look at my favorite utility jumpsuit and how I elevated it into something effortlessly chic!

This Jumpsuit works for me because,

It’s Feminine

I’ve always loved jumpsuits but avoided the baggy utility style because I didn’t want to look like a frumpy car mechanic! Then I found this one. This cute white cargo jumpsuit from Banana Republic changed my mind. There are so many great things about it. First, let’s start with the shape.

See how that self-tie belt nips in the middle and highlights my waist? The mannequin’s outfit was styled with an extra braided belt, and when I copied the look, I thought it was perfect.

Cropped is Chic

The straight-cropped legs on this jumpsuit also make it new and different. The hem lands at a perfect spot just a few inches above the ankle, and when you add a low heel, it is fresh and modern. I styled my jumpsuit with nude mules to keep my legs looking long and leans. The mules are understated to keep the focus on those beautiful pockets.

The Shoulders are Dramatic

I’m a classic girl, but I love a touch of drama. These bold shoulders are my favorite detail because they give you a fierce futuristic look yet are not overpowering. And, of course, the tremendous bonus is that the broader shoulders make your waist and hips look tiny in comparison! I popped the collar to frame my face and up the drama. The big round drop earrings also make it bold.

White or   White is a Great Color

Another reason this cute jumpsuit works for me is the soft white color. I can mix and match it with black, taupe, brown, or olive accessories to create casual chic looks.

My Utility Jumpsuit is Comfy and Versatile

Finally, my jumpsuit is 100% cotton and cool, light, and comfy. I can wear it as is or dress it up with a scarf, jewelry, and dressier shoes. Heck, you can even wear it with sneakers. It’s a fabulous summer staple because I found just the right one for me. If I’ve got you thinking you might like to try a cargo jumpsuit, check out the ones I’ve linked below.
