What to Wear on the Fourth of July: Red, White and Blue Outfits

The Fourth of July is a big to-do, so including a little Americana in your style is fun. How do you dress to celebrate the holiday? Here are some patriotic ideas in red, white, and blue.

4th of July Outfit Idea - Navy Cold Shoulder

1. Wear Something  Nautical Inspired

A nautical-inspired look is a natural choice when dressing for the 4th of July. This cute navy and white outfit is a great example.

White flare jeans and rope wedges give off a sailor-like vibe.  Combine them with a navy cold shoulder top to have a clean, crisp, patriotic look. This will be ideal if you step out for a bite at an outdoor cafe (with social distancing in mind)!

4th of July Outfit Ideas - red Maxi

2. A Red Maxi is Fabulous!

A soft, relaxed maxi dress is a simple and festive way to look party-ready on Independence Day. Wear this maxi, dress it as is, or slip it on over your swimsuit in the backyard or by the water. Cute flat sandals are great with this maxi. A straw bag is gorgeous this time of year ( especially this one!), and tassel earrings are also a great way to add texture to an outfit which always adds life!

3. Try an American Red, White, and Blue  Shorts Outfit

Naturally, red, white, and blue are the colors of the day, and if you wear all three, then the trick is to keep it simple. You don’t need equal amounts of all three colors, and often the more straightforward the pieces, the better for a classy look.

For this 4th of July Outfit idea, we’ve combined a classic pair of white jean shorts with a pretty blue off-the-shoulder top. Then we’ve added just a touch of red in the way of these cute earrings and some white flat sandals. It’s a simple color-blocked look that is very fresh and modern. A 4th of July outfit looks cheesy when things get too busy.

Fourth of July Outfit- Denim Jumpsuit

4. You Can’t Go Wrong With Denim

There’s nothing more American than Denim or Chambray, which is why this chambray jumpsuit is perfect for this national birthday. This sporty jumpsuit is a cute change from jeans and requires nothing much to look fabulous. This is a great piece because you can wear it with so many other colors and in many different ways. Plus, it’s a nice change from regular pants. Flatforms, a red crossbody bag,   and floral earrings add some life.

Fourth of July Outfit Ideas - Striped linen slip dress

5. Celebrate with Stripes

Slipdress styles have been trending lately, and linen is always a popular summer fabric. A chic linen slip dress combines both of those things! Add strappy flat sandals, some fun tassel earrings, and a cute summer bag, and you are all set for an outdoor picnic or fireworks!

4th of July - Star Tee

6.  Pull on Star Spangled T-shirt

This cute star t-shirt is just the kind of patriotic clothing that is fun to add to your favorite blue shorts. This beautiful bag dresses up this holiday look with a crisp white bag, comfy rope espadrilles, and dangly silver earrings.

4th of July - White Wrap Dress

7. Wave the Flag in all White

Imagine this figure-flattering wrap maxi and gold wedges sitting by the pool with your neighbors, sipping on a glass of Pinot Grigio, sun blaring, sunglasses on, purse by your side, watching the guys bbq. The kids splashing around in the pool (or lounging on the deck, all eyes glued to their iPhone screens is more like it- lol!!)

4th of July - Pattern Top

8. Get Inspiration from Fireworks

Here’s another easy idea for what to wear on July 4th. White capris are a summer favorite. Add a festive top, a summery red tote, and rope sandals, and then head over to your friend’s place for a fun summer party.

9. Get Yourself  a Patriotic Hoodie

There’s nothing like Holiday fireworks to make you want to celebrate. Cute and easy, this comfy all-American outfit is perfect for sitting outside and watching the sky light up. Aren’t the sneakers fun too?

4th of July - USA tshirt

10. Wave the American Flag in a Statement Tee

Celebrate America’s birthday in comfort and style with one of many 4th of July t-shirts you will find in stores at this time of year. For example, this patriotic USA statement tee looks trendy with stylish denim culottes. Add a cute white circle bag and a couple of flat mules, and you have a bright start to your holiday long weekend.

Fourth of July Outfits - stars top and shorts

11. Wear Stars

When trying to put together cute Fourth of July casual, fun, and a little patriotic outfits, take your inspiration from the American flag. Anything with stars is a great thing to work into your look.  A cute star T-shirt is perfect to wear with your favorite white shorts. A navy woven bag, comfy suede platforms, and a pair of pretty red gingham hoop earrings add even more summer flavor.

12. Stripes are All-American

Stripes, as are red, white, and blue outfits, are natural when figuring out what to wear on the fourth of July. I like this perky striped t-shirt dress because of the flattering scoop neck and relaxed but not sloppy fit. And the best part is, it has buttons down the back. Add a jean jacket if it gets cool while you are watching fireworks. This darling red bag adds a powerful pop, and I love those comfy espadrilles for walking around on holiday.

13. Add Anything Red and White to Blue Jeans

Here’s another easy idea for what to wear on the Fourth of July.  If you know you’re wearing jeans, how about adding a fresh new red top with a bit of personality? This pretty top with ruffled sleeves is fun and feminine.  Wear it with a woven crossbody, simple slides, some beaded hoops, and jeans. Then head over to your friend’s place for a fun summer party.

These are just a few ideas for what to wear on the Fourth of July. Check out my other Independence Day outfits post for real-life inspiration in stores.
