Favorite Fall Knits For Women Over 50
This is the year of the knit! Cozy sweaters in bright colors, creative shapes, and interesting textures are the latest way to look on-trend, and the choice is almost overwhelming.
Today, I’ve partnered with the Over 50 Style Team to bring you some of our favorites. Have a look at the cute shaker knits I’m styling, and then hop on over to visit Susan, Jennifer, and Tania to see some of their favorites, too!
If there ever was a sweater that looked like fall, this is it! I found this gorgeous turtleneck at Amazon and instantly fell in love with the chunky shaker knit and stunning Autumn color. The rusty-orange shade (called clay) looks fabulous with the dark blue wash that is really trendy right now.
One of the nice things about this sweater is that it’s cotton. I’ve found since menopause I can’t wear wool sweaters like I used to. Cotton is so much cooler, especially if you are a woman over 50!
I paired my sweater with suede booties in a similar color and added a neutral taupe crossbody bag that picks up the lighter color of the sweater. The gold chain helps give this outfit a more upscale look.
I’ve found that Amazon has a lot of great sweaters. This one and the next one below are both from the Amazon house brand Goodthreads that has great selection and prices!
This next sweater highlights another hot trend—color blocking. It’s similar in coloring to the first sweater I showed you, with the middle block the exact same color and stitch as my turtleneck. I’ve always been a fan of color blocking, and I especially like the cool, modern mix of colors on this crew-neck color block sweater.
Can you believe I happened upon this artsy fence that matches my sweater!
You could wear this sweater with blue jeans, but I find black jeans look richer and really make it pop. These are the new high-waisted, crop, straight-leg jeans everybody is wearing. I find myself liking them more than skinny jeans. They are super flattering. I’ve also added some cute suede mules to finish the look.
These are two of my favorite knits for fall, but be sure to check out what my blogger friends are wearing! Visit Susan at Une Femme D’un Certain Age, Jennifer at A Well Styled Life, and Tania at 50 is Not Old.
Hi Deborah, I love your style sense. It is a sign to mine: elegant classic. I lo e upscale, tailored looks.
The sweaters you’ve shown look so cozy, and I especially love the amber clay color. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Sue, Thanks for the lovely compliment. I’m a big believer in less more and classic with a modern twist, and you know I love a shot of color. Glad to have you as part of the community! Please let me know what you would like me to write about.
Cheers, Deborah
I love your sweaters, Deborah! They’re fabulous. Wool is more rigid for me to wear now. I’m going to have to try Goodthreads!
Hi Jennifer, I bought a few Goodthreads sweaters, which I will share over the next week. I’m pleased with this brand that has excellent sweaters and wasn’t expensive! Thanks for dropping by.
The color block one is my favorite. I think you’re right about black pants. It grounds the look more too.
Hi Eve, I think it makes the colors pop. It wouldn’t have the same effect with a light wash or faded jeans. Thanks for stopping by, Eve!
I love your sweaters; they are perfect for fall!
Thanks, Tania. You know me. I love a shot of color!
I like your sweater choices!
Thanks, Mary, I hadn’t ordered anything from the Goodthreads brand, so I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived! Great Prices too!
Both of these sweaters are fabulous, Deborah! I love the colors and agree it’s an excellent season for knitwear.
Susan, you and I are both SPRINGS, so I know these would look fabulous on you too. Color makes such a big difference!
