The holidays are officially in full swing! The lights are up, the tree is coming together, and now it’s time to plan a few fabulous outfits for the season ahead. I’ve been browsing Macy’s, and they have some truly gorgeous options this year — from glam but comfy holiday tops to chic party dresses that make getting dressed for any festive occasion effortless.

Whether you’re dressing up jeans, black pants, or reaching for something a little more sparkly, these pieces make it easy to shine this season. Here’s a round-up of some of my favorites.

Holiday Top Trends for 2025

Here are the top holiday top trends I’m seeing at Macy’s this season — and they’re all so festive, flattering, and fun to wear.

Sequins are everywhere, but they’re getting a fresh update for 2025. Instead of just the traditional fitted party tops, I’m seeing more relaxed, boxy shapes with modern details like diamond patterns — think of that gorgeous Donna Karan sequin diamond top that feels both timeless and contemporary. Wrap-style sequin tops are also back, shimmering in silver and champagne tones that flatter every skin tone. And this year’s sequins aren’t limited to just gold and silver — we’re seeing them in rich reds, deep greens, soft rose golds, and even purples. It’s such a fun, festive way to bring sparkle into your holiday wardrobe.

Jewel embellishment is another big trend. From cashmere cardigans to soft crewnecks, designers are adding a touch of glamour with jeweled buttons or crystal detailing along the neckline or front placket. I’m loving the look of bright red and pink sweaters trimmed with jewels — such a cheerful pop of color for the season — as well as snowy white or ivory knits dusted with delicate crystals. These subtle sparkles instantly elevate whatever you’re wearing on the bottom, whether it’s jeans or classic black pants.

And of course, satin continues to shine this season. The fabric’s soft sheen adds instant elegance and feels perfect for holiday celebrations. One of my favorites is a green satin blouse with a cowl neckline — such a flattering shape for women over 50. It beautifully frames the face, drapes softly, and the hint of sequins at the sleeves gives it that extra bit of festive flair. Satin tops like this pair perfectly with black pants or even dark denim, creating a look that’s polished, comfortable, and effortlessly chic.

Holiday Party Dress Trends for 2025

If you are throwing a Christmas, New Year’s or Holiday party, or you are lucky enough to be invited to one, then you’ll want something cocktail-like and fun. From classic party dresses to the latest trending styles, here’s a look at the best Holiday dresses that are festive and fabulous

Ombre is absolutely beautiful this season. This gradient effect — going from a darker to a lighter shade — adds so much depth and interest to a dress. I’m seeing it in a breathtaking sequined wrap dress that fades from deep bronze to gold, as well as in a cozy-chic sweater dress with a dark knit top and a softly blended ombre skirt. Both are elegant, modern, and so flattering.

And just like with holiday tops, sequins are everywhere. But the way they’re being used this year feels fresh and modern. Instead of all-over sparkle, many designs feature sequins arranged in vertical lines — which not only elongate the body but give a subtle, sophisticated shimmer. Two standouts are a silver dress with vertical sequin stripes and fringe at the hem, and a deep green wrap dress with the same sleek pattern. They’re glamorous, yet totally wearable.

Velvet is another timeless favorite for the holidays, and it’s having a major moment. There’s a stunning off-the-shoulder red velvet dress that’s the perfect mix of elegance and allure — such a chic way for a mature woman to look just a little sexy without showing too much. I’m also loving a velvet tuxedo dress with a soft ruffle at the hem. It’s feminine, unexpected, and has that polished, fashion-forward feel that really stands out.

And of course, red is always a classic for Christmas. This year, it’s showing up in flowy chiffon and sheer fabrics, often with a touch of sparkle or sequin detail to catch the light. It’s bright, joyful, and feels so festive. My personal favorite, though, is a true showstopper — a shimmering, gold halter dress that channels a bit of Marilyn Monroe glamour. It’s timeless, radiant, and everything a holiday dress should be.

These glam holiday party dresses prove that you can shine at any age. Whether you love ombre shimmer, a hint of sparkle, or luxurious velvet, there’s something special this season for every woman who wants to feel elegant, confident, and festive.

Final Thoughts

No matter how you celebrate, a little sparkle goes a long way. Whether you’re slipping into a soft satin blouse, a jewel-embellished sweater, or a showstopping sequin dress, the holidays are your time to shine. So pour yourself a glass of something bubbly, turn on the twinkle lights, and wear something that makes you feel fabulous — because this season is all about joy, confidence, and celebrating your style.
