A pretty top is all you need to turn a pair of white jeans into a wow outfit. Recently, I showed you a darling, deep blue, the tie-sleeve blouse I bought to make my white jeans pop. Today, I bring you top # 2!
It’s sort of pink, it’s sort of peach… but the official color of this v-neck shell is known as coral cream. And what a breathtaking shade it is!
I’m all for wearing color and making sure you get the right colors to complement your eyes, complexion, and hair. There are a few universal shades that look good on everyone, and this is one of them.
When you’re a little older, a bit more tired, and a tad pale, wearing this soft, warm blush shade is like walking out the door with your makeup already on. Creamy coral can give you the one thing we all search for over 40, a gorgeous, healthy glow!
I picked up this lovely Zebra Tulip print top at Ann Taylor (where I always seem to have great luck when I’m searching for a little something to perk up my wardrobe).
I love the way the bold, black print contrasted with the coral makes the top look so crisp and modern. Tulips happen to be my favorite flower, and zebra stripe tulips have such an exciting and slightly exotic feel to them. This top is soft and feminine, but not it’s not wimpy like some floral tops. It projects confidence.
Another thing I like about this summery shell is the flattering V-neckline, front and back. There’s just the right amount of dip down at your chest to show off a fabulous necklace, and not worry about revealing too much cleavage.
Look closely, and you will see a touch of shirring at the shoulders which is a nice detail. The fit is loose and flowy ( meaning comfy), but not at all baggy. The side slits are great if you’re a curvy gal like me and don’t want any pulling across your hips.
Wondering about my bag?
This little cutie is from GiGi New York, a fabulous handbag and accessory company you really must check out. They have some of the nicest bags and finest quality I have seen in very long time. This is their Python iphone crossbody bag – just what you need when you don’t want to carry a purse but need to take along your cell, your credit card and a tube of lipstick!
The white jeans I’m wearing with this top are from Not Your Daughter’s Jeans. I wear them all the time on the blog. I love the cropped length and the fringe hem and make sure to always wear a pair of cute shoes with them to highlight that. I’ve got chunky heel sandals on here, but flats or even white statement sneakers would be cute.
One note of caution… NYDJ have vanity sizing which means I’m normally a size 6, but with their jeans, I’m a 2!! Kind of crazy, but if you just know ahead of time that you need to order two sizes down, you will be fine. These jeans really are a fabulous fit once you get the right size.
I want to mention that this top also looks nice with black jeans. However, the look is a little more formal because you start to get the matchy-colors going on.
Such an elegant print, isn’t it? And you wouldn’t believe what a difference adding that necklace made!
Try this. Put your hand over top of my necklace ( go on!), and then do the big reveal. See how nicely it ties the top into the white jeans? The jeans and necklace are like bookends.
Statement necklaces are a great way to Tweak Your Chic! I bought this one a few years back at Ann Taylor ( coincidence) and have worn it to death. I’m a huge fan of their jewelry. Banana Republic has great jewelry too.
Easy peasy! You can do this look. Stay tuned for top #3 worn with these same white jeans coming in a couple of days.
