Missing Part of Your Eyebrow? Here’s How to Fill It In

Tatoo EyebrowsHi Deborah,

I’ve been reading your post on eyebrows and wonder if you can give me any advice on what can be done for sparse eyebrows?

Several years ago I had a large mole removed from one eyebrow …the hair never grew back, and I have ever since tried to cover the space without much success. Now I have a lot of white in my eyebrows that are very wiry.

I put vaseline on my brows at night hoping that this will smooth and tame them, but it hasn’t helped. What can I do to cover the space where the mole had been removed and also tame the wiry brows? Thank you,  Valerie

Hi Valerie,

That is a frustrating problem. As you know, the eyebrows frame the eyes and give your face a lot of definition and so you want to be sure as you age your eyebrows don’t fade into the background. For the answer to your question, I turned to Fabulous After 40 celebrity make-up artist Sana Young. Here’s what she said:

Hi Valerie!

My suggestion is to tattoo your eyebrows. There are a lot of great places are tattoo eyebrows using a “feathering” technique. This gives a very natural look that lasts a very long time.

The other option is using a pencil to fill in the entire brow. My favorite pencil is the Anastasia pencil with a brush on one end that helps it blend into the existing hair, as well as filling in the gaps.

As for the texture of your hair, there isn’t much you can do. I’d try a good hair conditioner and leave it in overnight. Also, be sure to keep your brows trimmed, that way the texture won’t be as obvious.

Hope that helps. Sana
