Printed Wide Leg Pants: 5 Fab Outfits for Vacation or Lounging

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about style after 40, it’s that we don’t have to choose between comfort and looking great—we can have both. And that’s exactly why I love printed wide-leg pants. They’re casual, flowy, flattering, and an easy way to add personality to your wardrobe without sacrificing comfort.

But I know what you may be thinking. Will they overwhelm my frame? Won’t they make me look bigger? And are they too busy-looking to be classy and age-appropriate? I’ve had some of those same thoughts myself!  Flowy wide-leg pants can feel tricky at first—especially when they have a colorful, bold print—but once you know how to balance the proportions, choose the right shoes, and style them, they’ll quickly become one of your warm-weather favorites.

So, today, I’m breaking it all down for you. I’ll show you how to style printed wide-leg pants in everyday ways that feel modern, stylish, and totally wearable, whether you’re on vacation or lounging around at home. Let’s dive in and put together some outfits you’ll love!

  1. I love those tropical wide-leg pants! I bought them based on your recommendation and wore them in Siesta Key a few weeks ago!

    1. Hi Joanne, Perfect for Siesta Key. How were they? Comfy right? And they’re not just for the beach. When I was in Europe last summer, everyone was wearing them with t-shirts. I was in the shopping area of Hungary, and saw about 10 pairs in an hour on ladies. Now they’re getting popular here. Thanks for stopping by! Deborah

  2. I’m glad palazzo and Goucho pants have come back around. I’m not the one to dress in the latest fashion. I wear what I like and what’s comfortable. Mine is much broader in the legs than in the pics above because it’s awkward for me to wear dresses. That’s why I started wearing them. I used to play the clarinet in school, and if anyone else has done the same, you’re aware you have to wear pants to play. We wore palazzo pants, so we looked like everyone else. They were so comfortable (and I could get away without having to wear those blasted hot pantyhose *ugh*) I’ve never stopped wearing them! That particular pair is made of black chiffon, but I have others that are casual, made of linen and knit, with all kinds of prints and patterns on them! I love the outfits the ladies in the pics are wearing! I just bought a few to wear on a cruise too! They’re very versatile and easy to dress up or go casual. I wear capris, but my Goucho pants are much more comfortable. It’s mostly because I have Fibro, and they don’t have buttons or zippers like all my capris. Having to sit down all the time, those buttons and zippers eventually start to hurt! Yes, I also laugh at everyone who wears them with bulky tennis shoes and thick socks! Where’s the Fashion Police when you need them?!?!? ???????? I Loved the article! Maybe those guilty of this fashion violation will remember to wear sandals, low heels, or ballet flats. Bless whoever came up with the invention of the ballet flat! If not for the,m I’d wear clunky tennis shoes and thick socks, and people would laugh at me too! ????????????????

  3. Nope, not for me. I wouldn’t say I like this look. Way too much fabric! I loved the print on Kelley’s outfit but couldn’t help wishing it was a dress instead of pants.
