DEBORAH'S STYLE

Elegant Red Wrap Top Inspires Valentine’s Day Outfit

Hi Ladies! I’m collaborating with a wonderful blogger friend of mine, Jo-Lynne Shane, to bring you some ideas for What to Wear on Valentine’s Day.  Valentine’s Day wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without a dash of red. Red is bold, red exciting, red is passionate!

Today, I want to show you a chic and modern way to incorporate the color of love into your date night Valentine’s Day outfit.

Dresses are always lovely for special occasions, but let’s face it, sometimes you just feel like wearing pants. Wide leg pants like this sleek black pair are a great way to look dressy but feel comfy. The question is, what do you wear with them?

Try a Chic Red Wrap Top

This  red floral wrap top is perfect.  It’s feminine, flowy and very romantic if you are planning to go on a Valentine’s Day dinner date with your sweetie.

What I like about this top is that it’s festive for February 14th, but it doesn’t scream Valentine’s Day. It’s not a blouse with a bunch of little tiny red hearts all over it, which can often look very junior. It’s more sophisticated and versatile. You could wear this blouse any time of the year and feel confident.

These flowy, wide-leg pants give this outfit a very glam look, but you could also easily also wear this blouse with a cute pair of skinny jeans and some beautiful flats. You’d get a more casual looking Valentine’s Day outfit, but still very classy.

This is an outfit that flows and moves, which makes it sexy and fun. Wrap tops are one of the most flattering styles, and the elastic waistband on this one makes it easy and comfy to wear.  No having to tuck in and worry about a muffin top because this blouson style camouflages any tummy rolls and a thick waist.

Add a pair of chunky heeled sandals and a sleek clutch to dress it up, and you are all set!

Everything here is really reasonable too. The red wrap top and the wide-leg trousers are both from Banana Republic. I already had the shoes, bag, and necklace in my wardrobe.

Don’t forget to pop by my friend, Jo-Lynne Shane’s blog and check out the great outfit idea she has for this Valentine’s Day too!

    1. Hi Barb, Yes wide leg pants can be great for an apple shape. Apples tend be top-heavy and narrow from the waist down so you have an apple shaped body these kinds of pants balance out your narrow lower half. You should choose styles that are figure hugging at the waist to help accentuate those curves. Since you are on the shorter side wear heels ( a block heel is nice) to elongate your legs and make sure your pants are so long that they are dragging on the floor and overwhelming your shorter stature. Your pants should cover the top of your shoe and leave part of the heel and toe exposed. Pants hems should be 1/2 inch from the floor. Cheers, Deborah
