Sporty Striped Lace-Up Hoodie

Excuse me if I’ve been going a little bonkers lately talking a lot about my new puppy.

This whole dog thing is new to me (I’ve always been a cat person), and this little gal is just so cute that when she crashes my photoshoots, I can’t resist. The funny thing is, I was sorting through photos of this sporty new outfit we shot and, Oh my gosh, look what I noticed…

What they say about dog owners is true! People do look like their dogs! My hair can get pretty full and shaggy in the humidity, and that’s just the way it was heading the day we shot this…. just like Bella’s!

And the color, you’d think we both had the same hairdresser, LOL! This photo really makes me giggle; I thought you would get a kick out of it too.

Moving on to my new top (which Bella loves because of the tassels that she can chew on)…

This is a fun, striped top that I picked up from White House Black Market. WHBM is a store I’ve never shopped in much because I like to wear more color, and it’s only been in the last few years they broadened their color selection.

I recently wandered in to browse and found they had some super cute things at great prices, including this lace-up hoodie that really caught my eye.

Generally, I’m not a hoodie gal, but this is not your average hoodie. It’s got a lot more style. It’s a cozy knit material with soft, shaded stripes and a beautiful lace-up neckline.

It’s hard to see in these photos, but this top has just the tiniest bit of metallic thread running through the fabric. It’s got a slight shimmer, much the same as the creamy Cable knit poncho you saw me wearing the other day (also from WHBM).

I love the sporty look and feel and the touch of glam the gold thread gives it, but what I like most of all is, that it’s super comfy! Comfort is #1 on my list when I buy clothes because I’m on the computer a lot or doing errands.

This hoodie is made from a nice light, soft jersey. It’s the type of top that you can move in. Plus, I like that you can roll it up into a ball and throw it in your suitcase, no fuss, no wrinkles. (This would be fantastic to wear on a plane!)

Here’s the hoodie, not something I would normally wear, but it makes the top look sporty and youthful, and who knows, It may come in handy on a windy day.

I like to think of this as my Saturday morning uniform when I’m going to Starbucks, walking Bella, or just chilling! I’ve paired it with black skinny stretch jeans, but you could also wear it with black Ponte leggings. I like a more tone-on-tone look, but this would look cute with your regular blue jeans.

black suede sneakers

Did you catch my shoes? You’ve probably seen them before in my mustard sweater and green sweater posts, as well as in my post on Comfy Fall Shoes for NYC. I’ve got to tell you that live in these. They’re suede, and they’re my new favorite shoes because they’re comfy and practical for my 40+ lifestyle.

What I love most about them are the tiny studs that outline the shape and give them a little zip! These shoes have been big sellers on the blog, so you all must love wearing statement sneakers too.

One last look at this cute, coordinated leisurewear outfit with the sporty athletic vibe.

    1. Hi Pam, Bella is a Maltipoo, half poodle, and half Maltese. It’s so funny because my daughter was babysitting this dog for a friend who is a breeder, and she just loved my daughter so much, that we ended up keeping her. Only by editing these photos I noticed we kids had the same hair!

  1. Hey Deborah, Bella has to be the cutest dog I’ve ever seen. She’s so tiny! A great fashion looks too. You always look stunning in your choices—cheers from Sudbury, Ontario.

    1. Hi Lynda, She is tiny. She was a couple of pounds when we got her at nine weeks, and now it isn’t much bigger except for her ears. She looks like a bit of a fox!

  2. Adorable! I love the whole outfit, and what a cute puppy! Your blogs are always interesting and up-to-date with fashion for mature ladies.
