Classy Swimsuits for Women Over 50 That Show You’ve Still Got It!
Your body may not be as fit, firm, and wrinkle-free as it was at 30 or even 40, but that doesn’t mean you can’t rock a swimsuit at 50+ and look fabulous at the beach.
I recently went on vacation, and before I left, I was dreading trying to find a swimsuit that would make me look and feel good. Now, you may be thinking, “Deborah, you’re slim; what do you have to worry about?” But, even though I’m still in pretty good shape (due to years of consistent Pilates), I’m like anyone else and have areas I prefer to play down (or up).

Thankfully, I came across a beautiful new collection of swimwear from Talbots that is modern, chic, and very figure-flattering. Check out my new bathing suit and many other classy swimsuits for women our age that will make you look and feel modern, youthful, and confident.
Swimsuits for Women Over 50 – Talbots New Aqua Collection
My Swimsuit Goal – Sophisticated and Figure-Flattering
Let me start by saying that when it comes to the best swimsuits for women over 40, 50, or 60, whatever you want to wear to the beach is your business. So, if you feel like a hot babe in a thong bikini, please go right ahead!
However, for many women like me, the feeling that comes with getting older is wanting a more sophisticated type of Swimsuit—one that provides more coverage and hides trouble spots but isn’t frumpy. I mean, it’s got to look youthful and a little alluring, too! (It’s not over til it’s over—Lol!).
Talbots has released its fabulous Aqua Club Collection this year, and it’s everything I’m talking about! I’m starting with a gorgeous swimsuit that I think is the best of the bunch!
Pink wrap swimsuit | Eyelet Coverup | Woven Sandals | Woven Tote
You Can’t Beat a Wrap Swimsuit
This is Talbot’s Faux Wrap One-Piece Swimsuit, and it has everything I need to look great and, more importantly, feel confident at the beach (because it can be stressful, right?). Here’s what I love about it. First is the style. You know how much I love a wrap dress, top, coat, anything. The reason is simple. A wrap style is universally flattering since it enhances an hourglass shape or creates one if you don’t have one.
It whittles your waist, lifts the girls, and makes you look feminine and beautiful. This “wow” swimsuit is really well constructed. It’s got a flattering V-neck that crisscrosses over your bust just so and a waist-cinching side tie with elegant gold tips. That wrap style and all the ruching that goes with it hides that rounded mommy tummy we all have at midlife and beyond (unless you are very lucky!).
Great Coverage, Fit, and Color
You can see how great it looks here. The cups are soft and lined, and they have medium bottom coverage, so it’s not too cheeky but not dowdy, either! Oh, and did I mention what an incredible job this swimsuit does of holding you in as if you are wearing Spanx? It’s also super comfortable. You can actually breathe!
Finally, let’s not forget that color—tropical punch. A plain navy or black swimsuit is okay, but it’s most boring. Color, a color that suits you and your skin and hair, is what will give you life, energy, and vitality. Pink does it for me.
The Cutest Cover-up and Many More Styles!
Now, pink may not be your cup of tea. You may prefer a different style, but I highly suggest checking out Talbot’s new swimsuit collection because they have some real winners – both swimsuits and the most darling cover-ups!
This is their oversized Lace Eyelet shirt cover-up. I just adore the dainty embroidery mixed with the crisp white-hot summer look of a tailored shirt. There are plenty of other cute coverups, too, which reminds me that this collection is very easy to mix and match. You can buy a few pieces and create different swimwear looks.

Hi Deborah, I’ve known you for years and love your style. I think you and Dr. D should go on a River Cruise. We are going on our first one in June on the Rhone River in France. I’m winging it, as I hear they are pretty casual, but it would be interesting to hear your take on it!
We downsized 6 years ago and moved as well from cold PA to the warm Charlotte area. It is lovely to pick a home that suits you as a grown person and freeing not to be surrounded by so much “stuff!”
Hi Jan, Great to hear from you. You, we actually did go on a River cruise last summer in August up the Danube via Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Germany and loved it. It was quite different from the huge cruises we are used to, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very relaxing. We were on Emerald Cruises… I am not sure which company your France one is with, but we have heard that it is a fantastic one, too. It was casual and laid back, and we met so many nice people. I wore a lot of cute sundresses just above the knee and midi length, and some cropped pants, or linen pants with colorful tops for day touring. At night, I found casual dresses easiest with a bit of jewelry and cute sandals. You could also wear pants, but I find summer dresses so easy. It’s not formal at all – I’d aim for smart casual. Now we’re trying to plan something for August as it’s a big year for me- I turn 65! As for Charlotte, Lucky you! It’s beautiful and warm there. We visited 2 summers ago. We flew into Charlotte, toured around and then drove to Asheville to see the Biltmore! That was a fantastic weekend! Jan, so glad you dropped by to chat and thanks for being such a long time follower. That’s really lovely to know and it makes me feel honored! All the best! have a great cruise!
I absolutely loved two of the above. Was disappointed that the link for both took me to Nordstrom, which does not ship to Canada!😟
Sandi, which ones did you like and I can look for some Canadian links from another store?
Thanks for the post. I have switched to swim shorts and a tankini top, never returning. The sorts are comfortable, and there’s no tugging or exposing my backside. Very happy with them.
I love your site and newsletters please keep them coming….gratefully yours ..
You made my day Toni. Thanks!!
I was so excited to see the animal print swimsuit at Nordstrom. I went to the site, showing the cheetah print for $91.00. However, the actual suit is a snake print that can be ordered. I don’t care for snake print and cannot find the actual case on any other website. The tankini top in the same print/designer is available for $91.00, but a bottom must also be ordered. Disappointing, but I will keep looking.
Hi Shelley, So sorry about that. I looked around and also found it here! https://bleurodbeattie.com/products/plunge-tankini-top-cheetah?variant=30228762132543
What great swimsuits. I am in love with Tommy strapless. While I still love my two-piece, I always look for a great one-piece.
Hi Linda, How are you? I know you travel a lot so these would be perfect. They’re all so pretty! Cheers, Deb
I love these posts! Can you please do another winter getaway post on what to pack that’s casual yet polished?
