At the end of every month, I look back at the top ten best sellers at Fabulous After 40. Sweaters sold like hotcakes in September! Wow! It was mind-blowing how many different styles of sweaters sold last month. See the collage below to shop a few of the sweaters everyone loved in June.

Top Ten Best Sellers for September

1. Houndstooth Plaid Blazer

Preppy meets equestrian in this classic plaid blazer with a faux suede collar. A hint of wool keeps your warm in this blazer but without all the bulk of a heavy coat.

2. Puff Sleeve Textured Cotton Cardigan

Some fall days call for short-sleeved sweaters, and this textured cotton cardigan is especially nice. It’s lightweight, soft, and incredibly comfortable, and I love the puff sleeves because they give this sweater a fresh, modern feel.

3. Slip On Suede Loafers

These suede loafers from Ralph Lauren are a splurge, but are so worth. These loafers are a fall favorite, and you’ll find yourself reaching for these time and time again.

4. Double Breasted Leather Blazer

This sleek leather blazer is the layer you need for work hours and after hours. Pair it with jeans, a skirt, or toss it over a sweater dress.

5. Barrel Jeans

I was curious about them too, so I’ve been trying the stretch barrel jeans from Quince. The leg curves out and then comes back in at the ankle, which can look a little odd when you first see them on the hanger. But put them on, and it’s a different story.

I also keep the rest of my outfit fairly simple because there’s already enough going on with the jeans.

This dark wash, patch pocket pair of jeans from Talbots are knit denim, which makes them extra soft and gives you more breathing room at the waist. They have the look of jeans, but much more all-over give, and I’m all for that!

I’m wearing them with a cozy cashmere sweater, and I like how the paisley print livens up the dark denim without making the outfit feel busy.

If you look closely, you’ll see that this blouse is a kicked-up paisley camp shirt. It has front flap pockets on the chest and a relaxed fit. But it’s more polished that a camp shirt but still works for work and for casual plans.

For those tricky-to-dress-for fall days, there’s this cashmere-blend dolman sleeve sweater. It’s a lightweight, easy to layer sweater that bridges the seasons no matter which season it is.

Every fall I buy a sweater that becomes a favorite. This contrast whipstitch sweater looks like it’s a viable candidate this year. It’s cozy and it’s cute.

This tunic top is cool and comfortable. It has slide slits to keep the fit relaxed and a slit at the funnel neck. If leggings are your bottoms of choice, this tunic top is a must-have.
