How to Style a Pleated Maxi Dress

What do you get when you combine classic pleats with a wild animal print? You get a classy-looking long dress with a subtly sexy vibe. Today I’m styling two pleated maxis.  Let’s start with this beautiful pleated leopard maxi dress.

Pleated Leopard Maxi Dress

Leopard print maxis always look great in summer around the pool or on vacation because they have that hot weather tropical vibe. You may remember the one I wore last summer.  I wasn’t looking for another, but I came across this elegant A-line maxi that was just so lovely I couldn’t resist.

Isn’t this elegant? This long, flowy Georgette dress with the dainty self-belt reminds me of a Grecian gown. It’s fully lined to the knee, and the great thing is you can belt it high under your bust like an empire dress or at your natural waist.  I like it belt higher on me. The empire look is always so classy.

Maxis are fun to wear because they flow as you walk, and they give you that nice, breezy, summery feel.

Do you see how pretty this looks with just a touch of jewelry? My gold bracelets are from Gorjana and my earrings from Jenny Bird.

The side slits in this dress really add a lot. When you are wearing a lot of fabric like a maxi, it’s nice to show off some skin. It gives your outfit a more youthful look rather than being all covered up.

Do you see how fine the pleats are? That’s part of the beauty of this dress.

And if you are carrying a bit of tummy weight or just feel like a different look, you can wear this unbelted.

This is a great dress for entertaining. Wear it to a party or out to dinner. It’s casual, but you can also dress it up, which is perfect in the kind of world we are living in today. I found this fit true to size. Be sure to scoop one up while they last. out the links below.

Pleated Floral Maxi Dress

If you are not a fan of animal print check out this very same dress in a floral print!

floral pleated maxi dressI was drawn to this one because of its unusual color and feminine feel.  It has a very traditional floral print that borders on vintage.  I also tried on an exotic  animal print pleated maxi that was also fabulous.  Both dresses share the same elegant cut and this gorgeous pleating that is so flattering for any age.

long floral maxi dress

This dress is simple, timeless, and easy to wear. You can wear it loose and flowy, belt at your natural waist or just under your bust. It’s light, cool, and modest, but not “old lady” with a sexy side slit. It feels different from many of the maxi dresses out there.

pleated maxi dress for weddings

Here’s a closer look at this stand-out color that’s not orange or real gold. I’d call it Marigold. I added my favorite Dean Davidson jewelry, a jeweled signature twin cuff, a braided gold bangle, and these fantastic Ipanema drop earrings to finish the look.

This is a great dress for a special event like a wedding, baby shower, special birthday party, or backyard get-together. Wear it as is or with a cropped jacket or long cardigan. It’s easy to accessorize. It’s just one of many maxis dresses that is flattering for midlife women who want to look elegant and modern.
