5 Pretty Boho Summer Maxi Dresses for Women over 40
Now and then, I like to take a break from the classic, tailored styles I usually wear and try something a little softer and more romantic.
And even though I don’t wear much Boho, I’ve found myself drawn to the flowy, tiered floral maxi dresses that have been hugely popular over the last two years.
After trying on lots, here are a few favorites that stuck. Check out these pretty summer Boho maxi dresses from My Amazon Shop that are affordable and flattering at 40, 50+
Red Boho Maxi | rattan bag | belt | earrings
Tiered Boho Maxi
Boho style is known for being natural, eclectic, and free-spirited. There’s an emphasis on bold colors and artsy prints, many with an ethnic vibe. This stunning Boho maxi is a perfect example of that.
I fell in love with the creative color combo of red and fuschia, which makes the dress feel so modern. The lively print is exciting, too. Florals, ribbons, and swirls mix together to celebrate different cultures.
This dress has a beautiful button-up front and a small, sweet, ruffle neckline. I added the straw belt, earrings, shoes, and bag to bring out the creamy color in the print and add to the natural Boho vibe.
Yellow Kimono Maxi | shoes| straw clutch
Bohemian Kimono Maxi Dress
Not all Boho dresses are tiered, but they have that soft, breezy look and feel. This pretty yellow one is a classic Kimono style. It’s soft and flowy, like a traditional Japanese kimono, and is perfect for those hot summer days when you want to look feminine and feel comfy.
This would be a great dress to take on vacation. Add some nude sandals and a raffia clutch, and you’re ready to go to dinner.
Tan One Shoulder Maxi | rattan bag | rattan belt | rattan earrings
One Shoulder Boho Maxi
Here’s a pretty Boho summer maxi I was reluctant to try, but I was so glad once I did. I loved the look of this chic-tiered maxi but needed to figure out what to do about the one-shoulder. I made every excuse in the book not to order this dress; I’d have to wear a strapless bra, my arms would look flabby, and I’d be cold. But I ordered it and a good strapless bra, and I loved the look.
This is a lovely summer dress that can be casual or dressy. I can see this on vacation, at a winery, out to dinner, or at a baby shower, and with the hat, it makes it all the more fun. Sometimes, you have to try things to see what you are missing.
Painterly Wrap Style Boho Maxi |Pink shoes | Pink bag
Wrap Style Boho Summer Maxi Dress
I said Boho was creative and artsy, and here’s what I’d call a walking piece of modern art. I love this bold, painterly abstract print maxi that almost looks like it could be a painting hanging in your living room.
The pretty wrap style and asymmetrical hem make it romantic and sexy. Purple, orange, fuchsia, black, and pink give it youthful energy. No old lady Boho maxi here!
Long Sleeve Boho Maxi Dress
If you prefer to cover up in summer but love the Boho look, check out this sweet summer Boho maxi with a lovely country-girl vibe. I’m crazy about this flattering burnt orange color and the trendy print that looks like a leopard but is just very modern irregular dots!
Chunky-heeled sandals give you the height to walk gracefully and swirl around. For a more laid-back look, try flat or low-heel slide sandals.
Do you like the Boho maxi look, and will you try it this summer?
Hi Deborah, You look great in everything.
On the other hand, I am short-waisted, and my hips carry all the weight.
I look terrible in anything with an elastic waist. That rules out all dresses. (Belts are a no-no, too)
I will keep looking…
Wow, Deb, these dresses are all beautiful! I would be comfortable wearing any of them.
