Another holiday party, another cocktail dress, right? Not necessarily…. If you want something classy and fresh to wear to this year’s holiday soirée, think about wearing a dressy black jumpsuit.
Judging by the sheer number out there, in every style imaginable, a black jumpsuit is the way to look festive and fashionable this Christmas and New Years. (This all-lace one is my favorite.) Here’s a look what’s trending in chic black jumpsuits for holiday parties.
1. Ruffled Jumpsuits
Ruffles on blouses and dresses have been a big hit this fall and now we’re seeing this flirty, feminine detailing showing up on sleek black jumpsuits. You’ll see frills on jumpsuit necklines, on sleeves or in this case above, across the tummy and hips. This gorgeous peplum style gives this jumpsuit a soft, romantic presence.
Cap sleeves are your answer when you want a bit of arm coverage but you don’t want to wear sleeves, plus they tend to visually broaden the shoulders making your waist look smaller. This jumpsuit is classic/romantic and would also be a fabulous choice to wear to a wedding.
2. Velvet Jumpsuits
I’ve been writing a lot about velvet lately and that’s because it’s the perfect fabric for this time of year. Nothing says holiday dressing more than luxe velvet, so it’s not surprising that this black velvet halter jumpsuit shouts sophisticated holiday style.
This jumpsuit is deceptively simple. An easy-to-wear and super comfortable black velvet jumpsuit, with a gorgeous tassel tie belt and a halter neckline give it a sexy touch of Hollywood glam. (Doesn’t this remind you of something Cher once wore in the 70’s?)
Go with upscale accessories crystal drop earring to emphasize the neckline, embellished heels, a sparkly gold bag that makes the whole look pop.
3. Lace Jumpsuits
The glow from a roaring fire, a glittering Christmas tree, a glass of holiday cheer in hand…Picture a lace jumpsuit at this year’s holiday cocktail party. Lace is ageless, and it always looks special and appropriate for dressy occasions. This fabric blocked lace jumpsuit is stunning and practical too. For Christmas or New Years, you can’t go wrong with this one.
4. Off the Shoulder Jumpsuits
When you want to look sexy, but you’re not into letting it all hang out a great solution is a jumpsuit with an alluring off the shoulder neckline. This year there are plenty to choose from.
5. Long Sleeved Jumpsuits
I know, I know.. when you are self-conscious about their arms it seems impossible to find cocktail wear with sleeves. Fortunately, I’ve found a few black jumpsuits that give you some arm coverage so you’ll feel confident and classy.
6. Jumpsuits with Sparkle
You don’t have to sparkle as bright as a Christmas tree to light up the holiday party. Here’s a jumpsuit that is like a classic black canvas with just a touch of glitter and glam. Add some glitter pumps shoes and pretty silver jewelry to complement this sparkly black belt that highlights your waist and shows off your feminine figure!
What’s your favorite style of jumpsuit for the holiday season?
