Girlfriend’s Lunch? Here’s What to Wear

After months of being cooped up, things are finally starting to ease up. So when your bestie calls and asks if you feel like popping out for lunch, (or you invite some girlfriends over for a bite in the backyard), what can you throw on that’s casual, but looks cute?

Here are a few fresh spring ideas.

1. Cute Sundress

This cute yellow sundress is a cheery way to greet your friend after not seeing her for such a long time! I love the simplicity of this button up look with it’s summery square neckline and the pretty white floral design.

Add a cute wicker bag, a pair of braided flats, and some leafy gold earrings, and you will look like a ray of sunshine.

2. White Jeans Outfit

You can’t go wrong with white jeans. They always look fabulous no matter what you pair them with, and in this case, it’s this darling embroidered top with the twist tie sleeves.

Don’t you love these chunky buckle wedges? They are so darn cute. Toss on a pair of beaded earrings to go with the crafty embroidery, then add a chic crossbody bag, and you will look fresh and fun!

3. Wide Leg Pants

Relax and have a bite and good girl’s chat in these super comfy wide-leg pants. These dreamy pants are the color of peach sorbet and look fabulous worn with all white. When your bottom half is wide, you need to keep your top half narrow, so this breezy white tank is perfect.

Don’t you love those comfy-looking braided flats and that fabulous bag that adds a touch of elegance? Fabulous sunglasses are important to the look and so necessary when you are dining alfresco. This elegant, gold cat-eye pair is extra gorgeous.

  1. Hi Deborah, Am I the only 70+ female who reads your posts? Your choice of “looks” in “what to wear” would NOT be a choice for me. My criteria are at least elbow length sleeves in tops, below the knee dress/skirts, no heels, small to medium-sized jewelry. Perhaps a post for older “style after 40” females might interest more than myself,

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Linda 40+ is a big range so I like your idea of some posts for 70+. I will work on that. What kind of outfits are you after, everyday or special occasion?

      1. I second this suggestion. I need arm coverage – comfortable shoes and to look half way stylish and also look my age – 71.

  2. I love the blush-colored tie-front blouse, but . . . it’s got a slit in the back that goes all the way to the waist! That means going bra-less. Not an easy look for a lot of us post-40 women.

  3. yes, this outfit is lovely, and what’s more,..it’s given me the inspiration I needed when I go out with my gorgeous Daughter next week! thanks!

  4. What nail color do you think is good for an outfit like this? I have a few pieces in that coral shade, could I go with a coral nail polish or keep it neutral?

    1. Hi Linda, I think either would be fine. Colorful nail polish is really popular these days but I find the polish seems to last longer if you go with a neutral like a soft nude or blush.

  5. It’s winter downunder (Melbourne, Australia) right now but your web site is just fabulous in any season! This outfits are gorgeous. I am a committed ‘capsule dresser’. You are a breath of fresh for us over 40’s (actually over 50). thank you Robyn
