Mother of the Bride

Sophisticated Summer Mother of the Bride Dresses

If your son or daughter is getting married this summer, congratulations! It’s the most popular time of year for a wedding, which means finding the perfect mother of the bride or groom dress should be a cinch, right? …….. Not always so!

If you’re still struggling with what to wear to look sophisticated and appropriate at your child’s wedding this June, July, or August, here are a few fabulous summer mother-of-the-bride dresses that are totally in sync with the season.Mother of the Bride dress pink sweetheart neckline

Pink is Perfect for Summer MOB Gowns

Your choice of dress as Mother of the Bride will be influenced by many factors, including the location and formality of the wedding, the color scheme for the bridal party, your body type, and current fashion trends. For Summer, pink is the color favored by many Mothers of the bride and grooms.

The gentle pink color of this gown is perfect for a breezy summer wedding and complements many other colors, ranging from black to metallic shades, as well as pale blue and light gray. I also love the way this dress nips in at the waist and flows gently outwards. Many women struggle to find a dress with sleeves, which makes this one a real winner too!Mother of the Bride - pale Blue Ball Gown

Sheer Layers are Trending this Summer

Light, airy, translucent layers are trending this spring, and nowhere else do they look as pretty as when incorporated into a Summer Mother of the Bride dress. This pretty, light periwinkle gown has twinkling beaded flowers and fronds floating atop the whisper-thin overlay. I love the band of lace at the waist, which accentuates the A-line silhouette. Heavenly!

One-shoulder Mother of the Bride Dresses are Glamorous

One-shoulder gowns work all year long for formal events, but they are particularly glam for a hot summer wedding. This gorgeous gown pulls out all the stops and lets everyone know that, next to the bride, you are an essential member of the bridal party. If you want to feel like a movie star on your son or daughter’s big day, this is the dress!

  1. Help! My son is getting married in September at an outdoor wedding. The colors his fiancé chose are black and white. The bride thinks her mom will wear black. I am not sure what colors I should be looking at. I’ve found a black and white floral dress by Calvin Klein, but not sure if that’s appropriate. Any guidance is appreciated.

    1. Hi Jennifer, Have they requested you wear black and white too? Burgundy would be lovely in September and would go nicely with black and white. Champagne or silver would also be elegant. I would ask the bride what she wants if she has a vision. Cheers, Deborah

  2. Hello, my daughter (stepdaughter) is getting married this June. Her colors are Royal Blue, White, and Silver. The wedding party will all have different dresses in the Royal Blue color. Her mother stated she would probably wear silver. What other color can be worn to compliment the party without wearing silver matching the mother?

    1. Hi Dianne, Have you thought about burgundy or a pink blush? Those are popular colors and would be lovely with royal blue and silver.
