How to Wear Split Hem Pants
The country has a great divide, and I’m not talking politics! Split-hem pants are stirring up excitement and receiving mixed reviews. Here’s a look at some of the latest styles and what to wear with them to look modern and cool. Which camp are you in?

If you are looking for a way to add some oomph to your style, then check out split-hem pants. At first glance, they may look a little wild, but they’re pretty basic.
Split-leg pants are simply straight-leg pants with a slit up the front or side – a classic style with a modern twist. I bought this fabulous pair of black split-hem pants with this cute leopard front tie top, and I love the look!

Side Slit Hem Pants
I like to wear my split-hem pants with a pretty cross-front blouse. These pants are slit at the side, rather than down the front and are a gentler way to ease into the trend.
I’ve tossed a cozy knit ruana on top for a modern look. I must admit these pants surprised me. I wasn’t sure how I felt about them, but after slipping them on, seeing how long they made my legs look, and how super comfy they were, I was sold. Now, I love them. Wear cute booties, suede mules, or shoes that show off your ankle for maximum effect.
Other Ways to Style Split Hem Pants

- Button-down shirt and flats
- silky blouse
- chunky sweater or oversize sweater and booties
- relaxed cardigan
What Shoes Do You Wear with Split Hem Pants?
Split-hem pants are the perfect way to show off a pair of your favorite shoes or booties. Mirror the sharp triangle shape created by the front slit with a pointy toe shoe or bootie to look youthful and cool. For example, pointy pumps or point toe booties flatter this style of pant and elongate your legs. Some of my favorite shoes with split-hem pants are elegant slingbacks, kitten heels, or mules.
For a fashion-forward look, contrast the color of the shoes with the color of the pants. For a more classic look, stick to shoes in the same color as your pants. I would avoid booties the same color as your pants because if they have a tall shaft, you wouldn’t see them if they were the same color as the pants. They’d blend in.

White Split Hem Pants
These relaxed linen split hem pants have a rock-and-roll vibe. They look super sexy if you wear them long with high heels (if you can still wear them!) Or, slip on cute flat sandals for a more boho babe look.
Split Hem Leggings
If you love leggings but are tired of the same old look, switch things up with a pair of split-hem leggings. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference and will give your leggings outfit a modern look.
Try split-hem leggings with a long tunic sweater or shirt, a pair of chain mules, and some classy accessories. Black and white is always a chic color combo.
