Summery Handkerchief Hem Dress: Give it a Twirl!

Summertime is dress time, and this year we’re seeing some of the most beautiful, feminine dresses we’ve seen in a long time. Today I’m excited to partner with my fabulous 40+ blogger friend Sheila from Pieces of a Mom to bring you two of our favorites!

Have you ever watched those old Hollywood musicals where stars like Ginger Rogers twirl across the dance floor in the prettiest, floaty dresses that make them look like they are dancing on air? Even though I’m generally more of a tailored girl, I’ve always wanted a dress like that, and now I’ve found it!

This pretty, chiffon floral dress by Eliza J is so flowy and feminine that it makes me want to twirl.

Look at that gorgeous handkerchief hemline! It’s so light and breezy that it makes this dressespecial andfun to wear.

This is the perfect dress when you want to feel feminine and flirty because it cannot help but flow and swish with every step you take. It’s beautiful for any special occasion this summer. I plan on wearing it to a wedding in June and a particular 90th birthday party we’re giving to my mother-in-law in July.

I love the neckline with the delicate ruffles. The V-shape is so flattering. It dips down, but it’s not too low.

And the vibrant colors are magnificent! I was instantly attracted to this unusual mix of lavender and warm red, but I wasn’t quite sure how it would look. Would it be too wild and loud?

It turned out to be lovely. I think the unique color combination is what makes it look so modern.

Luckily, I just had the perfect earrings to go with my dress. These lilac mother-of-pearl earrings are from my favorite jewelry brand, Kendra Scott. I love her classic jewelry with a very modern twist.

This handkerchief hem dress fits so well. It’s flat across the tummy and then flares out big. I find it quite slim. You can always wear light shapewear for extra smoothness, which is pretty standard for me when I wear dresses. It gives you that glamorous Hollywood red carpet-figure. I also love the midi length, which is so ladylike for a change.

Since the print on this dress is so bold and colorful, I kept my shoes neutral. It’s a dress that needs heels to look fabulous!
