How to Update a Knit Dress

A simple knit dress is a great way to look Fab after 40.

Here I am in my favorite knit dress with some black opaque hose and simple black pumps.

Depending on the weight of the knit, you can wear them in most climates.  I live in Toronto where it can get really chilly so of course they work there.

JoJami dressed down her white knit dress with a long colorful sweater and casual stretch belt.

Trying to dress comfortable when we are over 40 can certainly be a challenge.  We feel that this can be the answer to “How can I be comfortable, but still look updated and chic?”

Why not get that knit dress out of the back of your closet or if you don’t have one go out and try one on!

One note, you will want to wear shapewear underneath to smooth out any bumps or lumps that many of us over 40 gals have!

I like this dress slip version from Cass and Co.

This shapewear from Cass and Co. works perfect under a knit dress to smooth you out!

  1. Where do I find Jo Jami’s knit dress online? I have searched a couple different stores but haven’t found any in my size. A friend told me to check out http://www.dollarvogue.com They have discount jewelry and other women’s apparel, but they don’t carry dresses.
I agree with Wanda about shapewear that is meant to go to the bra line. Does anyone have any ideas about keeping it where it belongs?

  2. I love Jo Jami’s white knit dress. What brand is it?

  3. I have yet to find shapewear that stays put where it should. Slips creep up. Shapewear meant to go up to the bra line never stays there. It either rolls down toward the waist or digs into me somewhere so that some bits pop out over the top somewhere. I stopped even looking at it long ago. If the dress doesn’t look good on ‘just me’, I don’t bring it home. Not worth the hassle.
