5 Leather Jacket Styles Dominating Fall Fashion
Whether you are 16 or 60, wearing a beautiful leather jacket is modern and on-trend. Leather is rich and classy and has a slightly rebellious edge that makes you look cool and youthful. If your first thought is, I’m too old to wear a leather motorcycle jacket, listen up, girlfriends.
This fall, there are many leather jacket styles taking center stage, including these five that I think are perfect for us grown-up gals. Have a look.
1. Leather Shacket
It’s not quite a shirt and not quite a jacket, so they call it a leather shacket! I love the look of this versatile piece that can be worn alone, done up like a shirt, or layered with a top underneath like an open vest or jacket. Have you seen this one I bought a while back in brown? It has a few more pockets than most, so it almost looks like a safari jacket or safari shirt, but I love it because it feels so different from any other leather pieces I have.
Wearing your leather shacket with high-waisted jeans or my Spanx high-waisted flares is quite elegant. Keep the booties and the bag unfussy and structured to keep this leather shacket and pants combo looking more upscale.

2. Leather Blazer
Now, this is nice! There’s nothing like a well-tailored blazer to keep your more rounded midlife shape looking proportioned and svelte. This stunning blazer, in one of fall’s most popular neutrals (brown), looks super rich and worldly. I love it here, teamed up with Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, chocolate brown booties, and this stunning acorn-colored bag. Gold jewelry and hardware add a posh feel.
3. Leather Bomber Jacket
Everything old is new again, including this fab leather bomber jacket. This time around, instead of basic black or tan, we are seeing eye-popping colors like this gorgeous green. I love colored leather. It’s a beautiful way to get in on the trend when black looks too tough and harsh against fading skin and wrinkles. Plus, who else is wearing it? It’s attention-getting and very chic.
4. Quilted Leather Jacket
Quilted, Chanel-inspired jackets never seem to go out of style, but it’s not often you find one in leather or faux leather. I picked this one up last year at Chico’s, and suddenly I see it is back in the stores, this time from Ann Klein, but with no zipper. My green sweater can be found here.
This quilted leather jacket with the big patch pockets is a great look for my classic types who want a dressier leather jacket for the office or something special for weekends. Black always looks cool with a touch of animal print. The front slit on the hem of the pants adds to the drama and gives this outfit an urban vibe.

5. Classic Leather Moto Jacket
Last but not least, the classic zip moto jacket is here to stay. This has been the most popular type of leather jacket in the last few years, and it doesn’t look like it is going anywhere soon. If you don’t have a leather moto jacket, this is a perfect one. Why? It’s made by Levi’s, which always has great styles and quality, and it comes in 13 colors!
