4 Fresh Ways to Style Cute Summer Skirts: Outfits You’ll Love!

When pants are too hot, and shorts seem too skimpy, then a cute summer skirt is a great way to look casually smart.  Here are 4 popular types of summer skirts and what to wear them with.

1. White Jean Skirt

Whether you’re sightseeing on vacation or popping over to a friend’s backyard for a weekend barbecue, a cute white denim skirt looks sporty and hip. Wear it with a simple fitted t-shirt or colorful linen top. Add some pretty jewelry and cute sandals, and you’re out the door!

2. Summer Maxi Skirt

Many of you tell me you’re concerned about wearing short skirts in summer because you have spider veins or pale legs. If this is the case, then why not think about a pretty summer maxi skirt? Choose a maxi skirt with some exciting detail like this front slit, and pair it with a simple tank top. Strappy sandals with square toes are right on trend, and a great bag helps elevate the look to casually chic.

3. Summer Midi Skirt

A flowy midi skirt is another breezy summer look. The gathered waist of this silky pull-on midi enhances the floaty drape. All you need to go with it is a soft tank top and some fab accessories. A round straw bag and lace-up sandals do the trick. This lilac and white color combo are so fresh and modern.

4. Classic Denim Skirt

Denim skirts are always in style, but after 40, you’re best to trade in your jean miniskirt with the frayed hemline for something a little more grown-up.

A full silhouette, button-front denim skirt can be worn in many ways and works for any figure, especially pear-shaped ladies. Style your skirt a touch sexy by adding a cute, ruffle sleeve top (so popular this summer). Classic accessories with a modern twist give this outfit a burst of energy.

A skirt can be fabulous because of its color, style, or fabric. This beautiful wrap skirt ticks all three boxes. Dress it up with a black print top, black sandals, and a black and wicker bag for chic summer look.

Do you like skirts in summer? What kind do you wear, and what do you wear them with.

  1. I used to like skirts for summer, but now finding one that works for me is pretty daunting. I like hemlines that hit the sweet spot just below my knees. Too long, and I could take up the hem, but guess what? They’re all too short. I wouldn’t say I like maxis because I live in a windy place, where maxis turn into sails and trip me up. They’re not practical for my lifestyle, which involves getting into and out of vehicles. Midis? Frump on me. I need a good, simple A-line in my size with that sweet spot hemline—mission impossible this year.

    1. Hi Anon, I’m impressed you know what works so well for you. That’s a great start. I know what you are talking about, and yes, that is hard to find. Most dresses are a couple of inches above the knee or the midi and nothing between. What about this from Talbots:http://rstyle.me/n/cs22jsb52f7
They have more conservative lengths. See here:http://rstyle.me/n/cs22jjb52f7 Boden has a few that could work, too:http://rstyle.me/n/cs22kgb52f7.
Have a look. You may get lucky. They have some lovely things. All the best, Deborah
