Whether it’s impromptu drinks with the neighbors, a casual Christmas Eve at your sister-in-law’s, or a potluck lunch with your girlfriends, the holidays always seem to be chock-full of casual fun gatherings with family and friends. But what to wear?
You don’t want to overdo it but at the same time you want to look festive and pulled together. One of my favorite outfit formulas for occasions like these is a great pair of leggings and a festive holiday top. And when I say festive, I’m thinking chic and classy. No ugly holiday sweaters allowed! (LOL)
1.Cozy Red Tunic
This cowl neck pullover is the perfect solution when you want to look pulled together but feel cozy too. It’s both stylish and comfortable. This tunic with side slits skims the body without clinging. I love the refined cowl neckline and dynamite red color that makes this top spot-on for the holidays.
2. Black Tunic with Lace
Sophisticated lace and an elegant cowl neck dress up this luxurious velvet tunic with lace trim. I especially love the way the lace defines the sides and adds a feminine touch. (Go online and look at the rear and side views of this top and you’ll see what I mean. It’s lovely.)
For accessories, I’d go with statement earrings and a simple bracelet that takes advantage of the bracelet-length sleeves. Nothing like head to toe black to look slim and stunning!
3. Pretty Paisley
Paisley is always classy, so when I found this paisley print pullover I just had to show it to you. Here’s what I love about paisley. For one thing, it’s an interesting pattern that draws the eye keeps it making it easy to disguise a tummy or men-o-pot.
It also has a nice mixture of colors that you can pull from when you want to pair it with pants or a skirt. Just pick a color in the paisley print and add in other pieces in the same color, like these gorgeous plum pants.
4. Moody Blue Patchwork
If you followed my Fall Trends Series a couple of months ago you’ll know that patchwork is trending right now. Show your style cred in this midnight patchwork tunic. In deep winter hues like midnight blues and royal purple, this top has a rich holiday feel and is a nice change from traditional holiday colors like red and green.
The lace-up neckline is stylish and sexy and the asymmetrical hemline gives this tunic an artsy feel. Three-quarter length sleeves; by stopping parallel to your waist, put the focus on your narrowest part, your waist. Black pants make it pop.
5. Subtle Sequins
Holiday time is all about sparkle and shine. If you’re a gal who likes her sparkle in small doses, this asymmetrical velvet sequin trim top is a great option. A simple crew-neck tunic with asymmetrical sequined trim, this top manages to find that elusive sweet spot where casual meets dressy.
While it’s shown here with matching pants and heels, you could just as easily add it to your favorite black leggings and a pair of boots or booties. It also comes in black. This is a super Holiday hostess look. Just add a roaring fire and cocktails! Check out some other great asymmetrical tops with leggings here.
6. Jewel Cowl Neck
Jewelry is a way to make an outfit more festive but if you’re at a loss on how to work it into an outfit or you’re just not a jewelry kind of gal, then a cozy jewel neck pullover gives you the best of both worlds. This one is studded with tasteful simulated jewels at the neckline that sparkle like a Christmas Eve sky. Just pull it on and you’re dressed and accessorized all in one go. It comes in this oatmeal shade as well as black. Check it out online.
7.Glam ‘n Go Ruby Pullover
This velour beaded neck pullover with a side zipper gets rave reviews, from the rich ruby color to the soft cozy feel to the side zips that give you a little, or a lot, of ease through the hips. Wear it with leggings, black leggings or these incredible paisley leggings shown here. (Which, BTW, also get rave reviews. Just sayin’.) A great outfit to wear for Christmas morning photos by the tree.
What’s your go-to outfit for a simple, casual event over the holidays? Do leggings and a festive top figure in your holiday looks?
