For me, the key to dressing Fabulous at 40, 50 and beyond is all about finding quality, classic pieces that have an interesting, modern twist.
This darling fringe shift dress is exactly what I’m talking about.
This the type of dress that hits that special sweet spot that we’re all trying to find. I’d say, it doesn’t make me look too old, or too young; it makes me look just right.
Fringe has been trending for some time now, but I’ve seen a lot of the fringe clothing that’s been a little too over the top for my taste. My style leans towards elegant, which means for me, less is more. That’s exactly why this chic dress from Talbots works so well for me.
I love the way this festive fringe neckline looks really modern and lights up my face the way a pretty necklace would. I’ve added dangly tassel earrings to mirror the fringe look. You could certainly wear other earrings, but whatever you choose, I’d go for something textured and dangly to match the playful vibe of this dress.
Can you believe this purse? It’s so cute with it’s painted cafe scene! I don’t care how old you are. Sometimes you just want a fun accessory in your wardrobe that’s full of whimsy.
A statement bag like this would be really especially perfect if you were going to some kind of special ladylike function like a luncheon, shower, charity event or girlfriend meet-up. I think I might have got the last one, but there are lots of other fun purses out there this spring. I’ve linked to a similar whimsical purse here.
This outfit is classy and playful at the same time. The cheery coral color is upbeat and confident the, and nubby texture of this dress give it a carefree vibe.
Another great thing is the shape. It’s very flattering and forgiving! It’s a shift dress which means it falls straight down from the shoulders with slight nip-in at the waist, but it is not as fitted as a sheath dress would be. So, if you have a bit of a midlife middle, this dress gives you lots of wiggle room.
I love being able to incorporate something trendy like fringe into my wardrobe in a more subtle way. It makes me feel confident that I’m wearing the dress and it isn’t wearing me.
