How to Wear Black and White in Summer
Summer fashion means bright colors, playful prints, and fun clothing. But there may be times when you crave a more chic summer look. For this, all you need to do is experiment with that age-old palette of classic black and white. Today I’m partnering with Not Your Daughter’s Jeans to show you a chic black and white summer outfit.
If you want to create a chic summer outfit, aim for a monotone look. Black and white are timeless, serious, and commanding and will make you look sophisticated and in charge.
Creating a summer monotone look is as simple as starting with a pair of stretchy, white jeans. These skinny Ami jeans have a two-button fly and are super comfy. What I really love is that they have Lift Tuck® Technology, which flattens me in the front and flatters my curves in the back.
I didn’t realize this before, but they also are made of unique denim called Cool Embrace® This denim features COOLMAX® technology to keep you comfortable as the temperature rises, which is excellent in the summer.
Be sure to size down one size when you order. Not Your Daughter Jeans fit big. For example, I usually wear a size 6. Here, I am wearing a size 4.
Once you have your white jeans (NYDJ has many other great white jeans too), add a black blouse. This is NYDJ Perfect Blouse, which I have talked about before ( I wore a pink dot one, and a similar floral one). This really is the perfect top because it has an easy, relaxed fit, it’s higher in the front and longer in the back, and it has my favorite: three-quarter-length sleeves.
Black and white are the Keys to a monochrome look, but in summer, I’d definitely recommend more white than black to stay cool. So I have added this darling trucker jean jacket. It’s got a nice, slim fit, so it really shows off your shape.
Plus, it’s short, so even though your blacktop is nice and flowy when you add in the jacket, it ends at just the perfect spot to give the illusion of a small waist.
Add some gold jewelry to make it pop. I’ve chosen minimalistic jewelry in keeping with the clean, modern lines of this sleek outfit.
See how easy it is to create a chic black and white summer outfit? These are just a few of the many monotone pieces you can mix and match for other chic looks this summer, so be sure to shop my look above or check out Not Your Daughter’s Jeans.
