How to Style a Cozy Ombre Cardigan

This is the year of creative knits, and one type that is very popular right now is the Ombre sweater. You may recall the pretty pink Ombre pullover I wore with a white coat a while back or the colorful rainbow v-neck I paired with jeans. Today I have another Ombre knit to share. This time it’s a gorgeous, long, cozy Ombre Cardigan. Here’s how I styled it.

Some knits are just so cozy looking you want to reach out and touch them, and that’s the way I felt when I came across this snuggly Ombre cardigan. (available in Canada too) It’s a beautiful wooly knit with lots of color and texture, and it’s super soft and warm!

Since this cardigan is very laid back with kind of a 70’s vibe, I decided to work with that and paired it with long flare jeans from L’Agence. These jeans are just enough to light wash to make them look boho, but they are dark enough to still be classy. (I like refined boho). The raw edge hem adds to the Haute hippie look and feel.

Aren’t the colors stunning? These earthy fall shades all flow together so well like a pile of beautiful autumn leaves. This cardigan also comes in a gorgeous purple ombre, which I was tempted to buy, as well as a more muted Ombre, which is more low-key but nice too.

Deciding what color to wear under the cardigan was interesting. If you go online, they show it with a white tee, which really shows off the sweater but is just not me. I tried it with a thin dark brown V-neck sweater, which looked very classic and polished. Then I tried it with a rust cashmere V-neck which looked good, but bright.

In the end, I remembered I had this new wine-colored roll-neck cotton sweater from Amazon Fashion, so I tried it with the cardigan. It was by far my favorite. The neckline looked great, and the contrasting color brought out the subtle wine color in the cardigan.

Such a cozy cardigan! I like to wear it as is,  but you could also belt it for a different look. It’s. Chunky sweater, so you need a medium-wide to a wide belt, nothing too skinny.

My rust-colored western booties are fabulous with this Ombre sweater. They’re suede which goes nicely with the rustic look and feel of the cardigan.

    1. Hi Nancy, It is on the long side. I’m 5’7, and it is long, but I am wearing a small. There are x-small and xx-small, so if you are also tiny and not just short, then these smaller sizes may be more straightforward. The good thing about Nordstrom is they make it super easy to return items. They pay for shipping back. So try it!
