Snuggle Up in a Wrap Coat
These days fashion is all about effortless dressing, so it’s no surprise that wrap coats have become so popular.
Earlier this season, I bought this chic, gray wrap coat, and I’m really enjoying it. I was attracted to the two-tone color block design.
Wrap coats are super comfy. They’re warm and cozy, and they have no buttons, just a tie belt, so they make you feel like you are wearing a snuggly, elegant bathrobe.
How to Wear a Wrap Coat
I like to wear my wrap coat with this merlot ribbed knit sweater because the red color gives me some life, and it makes the coat pop. If you like a softer look, this wrap coat would also look fabulous with a blush-colored sweater. Blush, a peachy pink, is being called the new black because it works with so many other neutrals.
I’m wearing my coat with black leggings, but you can wear one with jeans, or even a dress. They are very versatile.
Do you like jewelry? I’ve added a gorgeous crystal cluster statement necklace just for fun. Remember, the bigger, the better with a coat like this. You don’t want your necklace to get lost in that wide shawl collar.
And speaking of that collar, it’s beautiful and so feminine! Not only does it frame your face, but it makes your shoulders look wider, which in turn makes your hips look slimmer. (Great trick)
Where to Wear a Wrap Coat
The thing I love about wrap coats is that they are warm but not heavy. They are perfect for chilly fall days when you are dashing around outside, picking up the dry cleaning, getting groceries, or running to the bank. You look casual but classy, and you feel good.
Dress up your wrap coat with a pretty scarf, some gloves, and a fab bag for a dressy work or out-to-dinner look.
There are so many wrap coats out there; it’s hard to choose, so I’ve picked out a few of my favorites. Let me know if you bought one, and be sure to send in a photo for me to post!
I love that coat! I have a bright purple wrap coat, and the lapel part extends to a hood at the back. My hem at the front is rounded (tulip shaped?) – I think I prefer your straight hem! Anyway, I love it and always get compliments when I wear it, apart from my teenagers who think it looks like a weird bathrobe…I guess they get points for honesty.
Hello Deborah! The minute I saw you wearing that gorgeous wrap coat on FB, I was like: Oh my! I love it! It is the perfect coat to own, especially if you live here in FL, just because it doesn’t get that cold during the fall or winter. I love how you styled it, and you are so right; the bigger the necklace, the better, and yours is just perfect! Have a wonderful weekend! XOXO, Jeannette
Deborah, I love the idea of this coat. First, the extensive lapel styling is classy and elevates the coat’s look. But then, you have the comfy fabric that looks like it would wrap you like a blanket. So, you’ve got style and function wrapped into one! I would probably go for black, but that’s not too shocking!
Happy Fall,
Shellie
