The Best Concealers for Mature Skin

Have you started to notice that your concealer just isn’t cutting it anymore? What was once your reliable go-to for camouflaging dark circles and hydrating fine lines is now settling into places you didn’t even know you had?

I’ve experienced it too, and it’s frustrating how it can make you look more tired and older than you actually feel!

Best Concealers for Mature Skin

The good news? I am a self-confessed concealer junkie, and over the years I’ve come across some great concealers that work with mature skin, instead of against it. They hydrate, brighten, and give you a nice, well-rested look even if you’ve stayed up late to binge-watch your favorite Netflix show. (That’s me – Lol!)

Goodbye caking and creasing.  Here are some of my favorite concealers to brighten, lighten, and perk up your face.

The Best Concealers for Mature Skin

iT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

1. iT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

I’m starting with a heavy-duty dark circle eraser that I talk about all the time on my Amazon Lives!  Say Bye-Bye Underye because that’s exactly what this concealer does. It’s thick and opaque, and it wipes out the darkness.  With just one teeny weeny dot of this highly pigmented undereye concealer, you get a full day’s coverage and more.

My dark circles and age spots are no match for the award-winning Bye Bye Undereye concealer. (I hear it’s great for hyperpigmentation and redness, too.) A bonus is that it’s waterproof!

Bye Bye Undereye comes in 24 shades and costs $24. Well worth it!

Bobbi Brown Brightening Undereye Concealer

2. Bobbi Brown Brightening Undereye Concealer

Bobbie Brown knows a thing or two about makeup. As a world-renowned celebrity makeup artist, she has worked her magic on hundreds of A-list celebrities, so it’s no wonder that her Brightening Undereye Concealer is one of my long-time favorites.  I find her sweat- humidity-and waterproof formula fairly thick, but also nice and creamy. It’s like butter on your skin and is very easy to blend.

Plus, her range of colors is so natural. I use this concealer pretty much daily unless I need something extra ( in which case, I turn to Bye, Bye Undereye).

Bobbi Brown Brightening Undereye Concealer comes in 12 shades and costs $35.

Clé de Peau Beauté | Best Concealers for Mature Skin

3. Clé de Peau Beauté Concealer SPF 27

I don’t know if you can describe a concealer as elegant, but that’s how this one looks and feels to me.  Cle de Peau Concealer is a multitasking concealer stick, which is handy. It’s famous for blurring imperfections, concealing blemishes, red spots, and undereye circles, and hydrating for up to six hours. Plus, it has SPF 27 to protect the delicate skin around the eyes from sun damage.

Sharon Stone and several other celebrities have raved about it, so that’s how I discovered it about a decade ago. Again, it’s fairly thick but creamy. It has a fine finish, and I like to use it for touchups for special events and on evenings out to freshen up my look. It doesn’t crease or fade easily.

The only drawback is the price: $75! I still think it’s worth it, and I always have a tube handy.

the best concealers for women over 40 tarte shape tape ultra creamy

4. Tarte Shape Tape Creamy Concealer

This little guy is new to me. I’d heard so much about Tarte Shape Tape that I had to give it a try. The  Shape Tape’s Cushion Tape™ technology is famous for smoothing & reducing the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores. It works for any skin type but is ideal for mature skin because of its super creamy formula that doesn’t cake or crease.

I use this as a touch-up cream. It feels very rich and moist, so it’s perfect for when my skin gets dry halfway through the day. I love the way it gives my undereyes a glow!

Comes in 48 shades and costs $32.

L'Oreal Best Concealers for Mature Skin

5. L’Oreal Age Perfect Radiant Concealer

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a concealer, this is a good one.  L’Oreal Age Perfect Concealer is part of the specially formulated Age Perfect collection from L’oreal and is created especially for women of a certain age. You may have seen Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren in the ads.

It’s lightweight, creamy, and does a really good job if you have light circles or a few lines or if you are looking for a booster to go over your thicker base cover-up. (I often mix concealers!)  This has a really good hydrating serum in it and is the one I always have handy in my purse.

Comes in 15 shades and at $10, which is a great price.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

6. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

Many concealers have a cult following, including this award-winning, best-seller from Nars.  NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer uses light-diffusing technology to instantly obscure imperfections, lessen fine lines, and erase that dead tired look when you didn’t sleep the night before.  It’s said to work for any skin type but is ideal for mature skin because of its creamy formula that doesn’t cake or crease.

I have never used it, but one of the gals on my team swears by it and told me to be sure and include it! So there!

Comes in 30 shades, a travel size ($15), and a regular size ($32).

Laura Geller The Ideal Fix Concealer

7. Laura Geller The Ideal Fix Concealer

When I want to try something new, I often turn to Amazon to check out their bestsellers. Laura Geller’s high-coverage concealer called Ideal Fix is one of their more popular concealers. It’s known for doing double duty as a concealer and a full-coverage liquid foundation. Ideal Fix is light but buildable to full coverage and has a nice, fat applicator.

Amazon sold over 3,000 of these last month, so I think it’s worth a shot. I’m dropping this one in my basket.

Comes in 7 shades and costs $23.

e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer | Best Concealers for Mature Skin

8. e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer

If you like Tarte Shape Tape but want a less expensive option, my friend tells me that  e.l.f  Hydrating Camo Concealer is an excellent dupe. This lightweight, long-wear concealer feels like satin and has crease-proof, full coverage while hydrating your skin.

This concealer is fantastic if you suffer from redness. It is formulated with rose flower water, which soothes the skin with its anti-inflammatory properties. It sounds like a good one, and it is a top seller at Ulta.

Comes in 20 shades and costs $7.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Multi-Use Concealer

9. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Multi-Use Concealer

Here’s a weird-looking concealer that made me do a double take. This is the  Instant Age Rewind Multi-tasking Concealer from Maybelline which promises to help you turn back the clock. It seems to do what all the concealers do – it conceals blemishes, redness, dark circles, and blurs fine lines, plus it also brightens for a radiant finish.

I’m not sure if there is anything really special about this concealer other than the unusual shape, and chunky tip applicator, but it’s touted as America’s # 1 concealer with over 221,000 reviews and a 4.5 star rating. Plus, the price is right at $9, so what the heck! It may just be the “magic one”.

Comes in 24 shades and costs $9.

Your Recommendations, please!

Do you have a concealer you love that I missed? Please let me know, and I will test it out. I can never have enough concealers (LOL!)

    1. Hi Diane, I use both. If I have a lot purply/blue under my eyes from lack of sleep (dark circles) , I use a peachy corrector, otherwise a concealer a little lighter than my natural skin tone works just fine. Both are right. It just depends on what you need. Great question, and thanks for stopping by.

  1. I love the ELF hydrating concealer. Gives great coverage and is super creamy and hydrating. Plus I like the company’s policies and the fact that it is a clean beauty and cruelty free product.

  2. Please keep us posted when you find a magic one. I have Natasha Denona concealer, and I think the shade match finder gave me the exact shade of my foundation. So I need one shade lighter, I guess. I use Bobbi Brown Color Correcter in a tube first, so I don’t need as much concealer. I heard we don’t use as much if we use color corrector first. I hate concealer making a mess after you apply & it; it seeps into lines. Makeup seems to get trickier now for me.

    1. Hi Bonnie, I have not heard of Natasha Deona, but it’s good to know about the match finder. Sometimes, it is a guess, and I have to buy a couple from a brand to get it right. The Bobbi Brown color corrector – yes, I have used that too, and it is also good. I don’t find too much difference between that and the full coverage concealer. She does make excellent products. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers, Deb

  3. Tarte Shape Tape is my go-to. But I have to admit I’m tempted to try the ByeBye Undereye. I usually sleep very well but have pesky genetic dark circles. And I don’t like them, not one bit! So if there’s a product out there that could make them vanish, I’m all in! :)

    1. Hi Carolyn, The shape tape has been new to me since Christmas. There were so many versions to choose from, but I went with the creamy one, which is good. I was surprised at what great coverage it gives because it looks more liquidy than, say, the Bobbi Brown full coverage concealer. But it works! As for getting rid of dark circles, a touch of filler can help, so I’m reading since our eyes sink back as we age, causing shadows. Even sleep doesn’t help that much, but I think drinking lots of water does. Hydration is so key as we age. Thanks for popping in.
