3 Leather Skirt Outfits That are Elegant but Edgy
Over the last week, I’ve been bringing you some of Fall’s Top trends in my Style Me Fabulous series. We’ve covered Plaid, Western style, Fall Florals, and Ruching.
Today I’m diving into the leather skirt trend. Take a look at these three leather skirt outfits that are guaranteed to add a cool urban edge to your wardrobe.
Brown Leather Skirt Outfit
Many women simply don’t bother with leather or faux leather skirts after a certain age because they think they look too tough, or like they are desperate to look young and cool. That may feel especially true if all they can find at the stores are short black leather mini skirts!
But thankfully this fall we’re seeing a wide variety of classy leather and faux leather skirts for grown-up gals in a wide variety of rich colors and more modest lengths.
Take this beautiful brown faux leather skirt for example. One of the most flattering skirt styles is the wrap skirt, and when it’s made from faux leather, it is one beautiful piece. I love the way asymmetrical zipper detail gives it a slightly artsy feel. It’s a simple detail that makes this leather skirt stand out from the crowd.
I’ve paired this skirt with an elegant ivory blouse, and you’ll notice it is made to be tied at the waist. This is another popular trend, and I think it gives the outfit a sophisticated effortless vibe. Of course, you need something to make this look pop just a touch and this season leopard print pumps do the trick. Any leopard print shoe is a great investment because animal prints are considered neutral and go with anything these days. They’re a great way to add just a touch of sexy to an outfit without overdoing it.
A gorgeous ladylike structured bag keeps this look classic but modern.
Style Tip: You may want a jacket for this look, but don’t wear a leather one. A leather jacket with a leather skirt is overkill and takes away from the beauty and specialness of the skirt.
Black Leather Skirt Outfit
Black leather skirts are always the easiest to find, but as I mentioned above I’m sure you are not in the market for a black mini, and you may be getting tired of buying skinny black pencil skirts. So what about this? This beautiful, black faux leather skirt with the flouncy, knee-grazing hemline is a wardrobe staple that is very versatile and will work with so many things in your wardrobe.
You could wear it with a blouse and heels which is always lovely, but I’ve done something a little different here. Striped turtlenecks like this are very in this fall, and so are sneakers ( practical too!) So, why not go for a sporty chic look by pairing these casual pieces with a black leather skirt like this?
This outfit has a very cool French edginess to it, don’t you think? And how do you like those sneakers? Toe cap sneakers are trending, and I think they are the perfect complement to this very modern look.
Style Tip: If you’ve scrounged around in your closet and found a leather skirt from years ago and think you can wear it now, look closer. You may find it looks too heavy and thick in comparison to what women are wearing today. Leather and faux leather skirts in 2018 are much thinner, lighter, and more buttery soft compared to those that came before. This makes them more elegant, modern and comfier too.
Green Leather Skirt Outfit
Black and brown leather skirts are nice, but Olive is so different. If you want to stand out, then this stunning Olive faux leather pencil skirt will turn heads. A pencil skirt always is professional looking, but the unique color also makes it look a little artsier.
Paired with a pretty floral blouse, bone suede booties, and a bone-colored leather bag, this beautiful outfit will elevate your work look. As a bonus, this skirt is by Spanx, so it has some built-in hold. Don’t we love that!
Style Tip: Fit is key with a leather or faux leather skirt. Remember it will stretch a bit, but avoid anything tight. You want to show off your curves, not cut off your circulation.
Here are a few more fall leather and faux leather skirt outfits to create some killer looks of your own!
Thanks for this one, Deborah. I opted to try the faux leather trend with leggings from the Loft. They are so soft and comfy. I like these skirt ideas and will look out for them in stores here. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love the green skirt outfit! I think my Nordstrom card will get a workout today :-)
