Spring & Summer

10 Casual Striped Spring & Summer Dresses for Women Over 50

Nothing says summer quite like a striped dress. Maybe it’s the nautical feel—clean lines, crisp colors, that breezy “I just stepped off a sailboat” look. Or perhaps it’s because they’re always really comfy and can be worn anywhere.  A striped summer dress is my go-to when I want to look cute and casual. If your closet could use a little bit of seaside chic, these striped summer dresses are a great place to start.

10 Casual Striped Summer Dresses for Women Over 50

(Update: This post was originally titled “5 Striped T-Shirt Dresses to Wear Right Now,” but I’ve refreshed it with a few more casual striped styles I like to wear that are perfect for summer!)

1.  Striped Midi with a Twist

Here’s a sporty striped dress that’s a total winner, striking the perfect balance between fitted and forgiving.  It’s essentially a long, comfortable T-shirt dress with a waist-defining side tie that accentuates your waist without making the dress clingy. Diagonal stripes below the waist enhance the slimming effect, and the side slit adds a cute, flirty touch. Just add white sneakers or low-heel slides – mine are trendy in silver – and you’re good to go! (similar style dress here| similar short, similar with collar, black)

Striped T-shirt Dress with Flutter Sleeves

2. Striped T-shirt Dress with Flutter Sleeves

Fluttery, feminine sleeves have been trending for a few years now, so it’s refreshing to see them appear on something as sporty and casual as a striped T-shirt dress. I love the unexpected mix here—the bold red and white stripes paired with those soft, romantic flutter sleeves. It makes the whole look feel pretty and playful. This exact dress is currently sold out, but if you love red, what do you think about this one?

3. The Casual Cool Shift

This perky Breton stripe sundress by Nautica is one of my all-time favorites. I love the easy-shift silhouette and the sporty white trim at the neckline and hem. It’s a simple detail, but it gives the dress a more polished, elevated feel, and you don’t even need jewelry. As for the blue, it has a cheeriness to it that you don’t get with navy or black and white stripes.  I love it.

4. The Chic Knit Midi

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but striped knit sundresses are having a moment.  If you’re looking for something a little dressier than a striped T-shirt dress, this striped knit dress has enough polish to take you from lunch to cocktails.

This one is stretchier than it looks and sits close to your shape without feeling tight. The sexy slit and sweet bows give it a beautiful feminine touch. Pair it with gold sandals and a woven bag for a chic summer look.

5. Sporty Maxi Dress

Here’s a fabulous look for the backyard or the boat! This sporty Amazon Essentials maxi is a soft, relaxed, and slimming option for a summer look. Black and white stripes always look chic, even when paired with a t-shirt dress. Pair this with natural accessories, like this straw and canvas tote.  Add flat slides and a fab pair of sunglasses, and get out in the sunshine.

Colorful Casual Striped Summer Dresses

6. Colorful Striped Sundress

Is it stripes, or is it colorblocking? This lively midi falls somewhere in the middle, resulting in a fabulous summer dress that is modern and full of energy.

I love the creative combo combination of orange, red, white, and lavender that radiates energy.  I’m not sure if you can tell, but this is a knit dress, so it’s very stretchy and comfortable. The chic side slit, which lets you flash a touch of the leg at the beach or the bar, is pretty cute too.

Blue Knit Summer Dress

7. Blue Knit Summer Dress

While we’re discussing knit dresses, let me show you another one that I wear frequently. This pretty baby blue one is a little different, with tiny perforations between the stripes. This is a comfy, easy summer dress to wear, and I think the color is so fresh and flattering on everyone.

8. Polo Style Striped Dress

Polo-style tops have been super popular lately, so why not a dress? Instead of a striped T-shirt dress, I decided to try a striped Polo dress and love the look. Talk about sporty with those big chunky stripes and the button-down collar. Many of you have been asking me what kind of summer dresses to wear with sneakers, and you can see this one is perfect. This midi length is ideal for mature ladies who prefer more coverage than a typical short, striped sundress can offer.

9. Striped Drawstring Dress with White Denim Jacket

Are you feeling a bit bloated or heavy? This is the perfect striped summer dress to hide a belly. It’s a relaxed, striped crew neck T-shirt dress with an adjustable drawstring waist.

Tighten or loosen the drawstring as needed, according to your preference or desired hemline adjustment. It’s one of my favorite summer dresses because it’s so practical and always looks great.

I love to throw a denim jacket on top to give it a cool, layered look. Pop the collar, and you are good to go!

10. The Navy Drawstring Bestseller

Yes, it’s the same dress as the one we just looked at—but this navy and white version deserves its spot. It’s soft, easy to pack, and perfect for travel or summer outings when you don’t want to wear shorts. I wear my sightseeing, boating, or just running errands. No wonder it’s a bestseller—I own two!

Striped T-shirt dresses are one of those pieces you can throw on without overthinking it—and still feel like you’ve got your style together. Whether you lean preppy, sporty, or classic, there’s a version out there that fits your vibe. Keep one or two in your summer rotation, and you’ll always have an easy option that looks chic and effortless.

Which one’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments—and if you find a great one I missed, I’d love to hear about it!
