Embroidered Sweater With Playful Statement
Hi Everyone! The way you dress expresses how you are feeling on the inside, and this cute embroidered sweater (similar) makes it easy to say what’s really on my mind.
You, Me, Oui… I couldn’t help but think of all of you, my Fabulous After 40 readers, and all the love I’ve been feeling lately from your many comments and emails. I’m blessed to have such a wonderful community of great women supporting me, and this feels like a nice way to let you all know how thankful I truly am. It is also especially appropriate that I share it with you today, as today is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada!
Before I get to the sweater’s details, I wanted to show you this gorgeous poncho I also picked up while I was at the Banana Republic. It’s a two-tone reversible wool poncho, perfect for this transitional time of year. If you follow me, you know I love my ponchos!
I thought the color was absolutely stunning. I always go for color first, then I look at the style and fit before I decide if it is something I want to buy. Color is energy, and energy is life. This stunning indigo and navy combo are so vibrant and modern; it makes me feel alive!
Here’s my outfit without the poncho. It’s simple and sleek, which is great for every day when I’m working at home and have to run out to get some groceries.
My sweater is a basic crew neck style. You can wear it as is, or layer it with a shirt underneath, like a black and white striped shirt. That’s a smart look too.
Do you see the pretty embroidery? If you had asked me 5 years ago if I would have ever worn a top with a message on it, I would have said no, and maybe many other women would have too. It wasn’t in style to have something written across your chest, and it seemed kind of tacky.
But times have changed, and a whimsical piece like this is now considered a relaxed and playful addition to any wardrobe.
One thing that keeps this embroidered sweater classy looking is that it is made from a light, very fine Italian Merino wool. It looks chic and feels great on.
I didn’t complicate this top by wearing a necklace or mixing it with many other colors. I like the all-black look because it makes the embroidery stand out. Also, when you are wearing the cape, the all-black underneath creates a nice long, slimming column of color. A wine-colored purse adds a subtle bit of color, and the pebbling on the purse adds texture.
If you’d like to shop my look, the links are above. I really like the Banana Republic because they always have great basics with a modern twist at very reasonable prices. So even if I’m just around the house, I can look stylish and feel comfortable without spending a lot of money. Have a great day, and to all my Canadian readers, Happy Thanksgiving!
