At a certain age, your skin starts asking for more attention ( a lot more -LOL!). The moisturizer you’ve used for years suddenly isn’t rich enough, your face feels dry by lunchtime, and those little lines seem more noticeable. Sound familiar?

One thing my mom always taught me growing up was to moisturize every night, and I have without fail! I’ve tried more face creams than I can count over the years, from fancy department store splurges to drugstore finds, and I can confirm that a higher price tag doesn’t always mean better results!
My favorite moisturizers are rich, thick, and luxurious. In fact, I often use night creams during the day because my skin just soaks it up. Why save the good stuff for bedtime?
Today, I’m sharing 10 of the best moisturizers for mature skin that I’ve personally tried and loved. Each one has earned a spot on my list for a different reason, and there’s something here for every skin type and budget. Let’s find you a fabulous face cream!
10 Best Moisturizers for Mature Skin Over 50

1. RoC Retinol Correxion — Best for Wrinkles
If wrinkles are your biggest concern, RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Max Hydration Cream is worth a look. Unlike basic moisturizers, it contains retinol, one of the most studied ingredients for improving fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven texture.
It also contains hyaluronic acid to keep mature skin hydrated while the retinol works over time. slowly if your skin is sensitive. Everything you need all in one jar!

2. Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream – Best Luxury Moisturizer
Now, this is a cream for ladies who love a little luxury! Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream is inspired by Japanese skincare and has a rich, silky texture that feels like a real treat. It’s made with Japanese purple rice and moisturizing ingredients that leave dry skin looking soft, plump, and dewy.
As our skin gets older, it can start looking a little flat, so a moisturizer that brings back some radiance is always welcome. Tatcha is definitely on the pricey side, but if you enjoy splurging on skincare, this is a cream to have on your radar.

3. SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 ~ Scientific Moisturizer
SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore has a serious following among skincare lovers. It’s one of those cult creams you hear about again and again. The secret is its combination of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids. These are lipids our skin naturally needs to help hold in moisture, and they become increasingly important as we get older.
The formula is rich and designed to replenish dry skin, making it a strong contender if your regular moisturizer just isn’t cutting it anymore. It’s expensive, no question. But for women dealing with very dry, mature skin, the specialized formula is what makes this one worth it.

4. Purely Bella Moisturizer ~ Vegan Moisturizer
Purely Bella is a new discovery for me, and I’m always curious when I come across a skincare brand made with mature women in mind. This vegan beauty brand takes a plant-based approach to skincare, which is appealing if you’re trying to be more selective about the products you put on your face.
I haven’t had enough experience with this one to compare it with my longtime favorites, but it caught my eye, and I wanted to share it with you. It’s nice to see more beauty brands recognizing that women over 50 are looking for good skincare, too!

5. L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Midnight Cream ~ Best Drug Store Moisturizer
A luxurious night cream without a luxury price tag? Yes, please! L’Oréal Age Perfect Cell Renewal Midnight Cream is one of the brand’s more indulgent moisturizers. It’s rich and creamy, with antioxidants and vitamin E to help nourish skin overnight. The idea is to wake up with skin that feels softer, smoother, and more hydrated. Not a bad way to start the morning!
I’ve always liked finding drugstore beauty products that give the expensive brands a run for their money. If you’re not ready to spend $100 on a jar of face cream, this is an affordable one to consider.

6. L’Oréal Age Perfect Firming Cream ~ Best Drug Store Firming Moisturizer
Dryness isn’t the only thing that comes with mature skin. There’s also that gradual loss of firmness, which seems to sneak up on us! L’Oréal’s Age Perfect collection includes day and night moisturizers designed to help skin look firmer while keeping it hydrated.
Now, let’s be realistic. No cream in a jar is going to lift your jawline ten years. But, a good moisturizer can make skin look plumper and smoother, and that’s nothing to write off.
I like that L’Oréal offers creams for mature skin at prices that won’t make you gasp at the checkout.

7. Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte’s Magic Cream ~ Makeup Artist’s Favorite Moisturizer
Does your foundation ever settle into fine lines or cling to dry patches? Not exactly the look we’re going for! That’s where Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream comes in. Makeup artists have sworn by it for years, and it’s become a regular in my skincare routine, too.
It’s a rich, creamy moisturizer that also works as a makeup primer, helping foundation glide on more smoothly. Plus, it’s loaded with hyaluronic acid and peptides to give mature skin a plumper, fresher look.

If your skin is looking a little tired, dry, or less plump than it used to, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream is a great everyday moisturizer. Its rich, velvety formula combines niacinamide, peptides, and hyaluronic acid to deeply hydrate and soften the look of fine lines.
Unlike retinol creams, it’s designed to deliver that smoother, fuller-looking finish without relying on an ingredient that can cause peeling or irritation.

9. Colleen Rothschild Extreme Recovery Cream ~ Emergency Ultra Rich Moisturizer
I’ve been a fan of Colleen Rothschild skincare for years, ever since I met Colleen in person and got to know the woman behind the brand. She spent years working at top cosmetic companies, helping formulate their beauty products before starting her own brand.
One of my favorites is her Extreme Recovery Cream. It’s thick, rich, and creamy, just the way I like my moisturizers! My mature skin drinks up the extra moisture, and I love it so much that I often use it during the day, too. Who says you have to save the richest creams for bedtime?
I’ve tried quite a few of her products over the years, and if you’re curious about what else I love, I’ve rounded up more of my Colleen Rothschild skincare favorites.

10. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream ~ Lightweight, Fast-Absorbing Moisturizer
Not everyone likes a rich, heavy face cream. Some women want something that sinks right in so they can get on with their day. That’s the appeal of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream. It’s not specifically for mature skin, but it’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and gives skin plenty of moisture without that greasy feeling.
One of its key ingredients is squalane. It’s a moisturizing ingredient that helps soften skin and keep moisture from escaping. It’s also very good at doing its job without making your face feel oily.
What Ingredients Should You Look for in a Moisturizer for Mature Skin?
Have you ever stood in the skincare aisle reading the labels and wondered what half those ingredients actually do? You’re not alone!
You don’t need to become a skincare scientist, but there are a few ingredients worth knowing about when you’re shopping for a face cream.
Hyaluronic acid is a great hydrator. It helps attract water to your skin, making it look plumper and helping fine lines caused by dryness look less noticeable.
Ceramides help support your skin’s natural moisture barrier. If your face feels dry and tight, these are good ingredients to look for.
Peptides are popular in anti-aging creams because certain types may help improve the look of fine lines and firmness over time.
Squalane is wonderful for softening skin and reducing moisture loss without feeling too greasy.
Antioxidants, like vitamin E, help protect against oxidative stress and are useful additions to a skincare routine.
Don’t get too caught up in finding a cream that has everything. A good moisturizer doesn’t need a mile-long ingredient list to work.

How to Choose the Best Face Moisturizer for Your Mature Skin
Here’s something I’ve learned over the years. Just because a moisturizer is expensive doesn’t mean it’s going to be the best one for you. I love a rich cream, but you may prefer something much lighter. The trick is to pay attention to what your skin is telling you.
If your skin is very dry or feels tight, a rich cream like SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore or Colleen Rothschild Extreme Recovery Cream can give it that extra moisture it’s craving. Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream is another lovely choice if your skin is dry and looking a little dull.
For line smoothing, I’d look at RoC Retinol Correxion. My hairdresser told me about this years ago, because all his clients used it, and he was right. This is one of the best, and comparable to more pricey creams that do the same thing.
Still dealing with oily or combination skin? Lucky you! You probably don’t need a thick cream. Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream is a good lightweight option that hydrates without feeling heavy or greasy.
If plumpness is what you are after, then Olay Regenerist your best bet. I just started using this and noticed a difference in 1 night. This is a keeper.
And if your makeup is settling into fine lines, Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream can help give foundation a smoother, more hydrated base.
One more thing. Don’t overlook your cleanser! A harsh face wash can leave your skin feeling stripped before you’ve even put on your moisturizer. If yours could use an update, I’ve rounded up some of the best face washes for mature skin on Amazon.

I’ve tried and used every one of these moisturizers, and each has something special to offer. Some are fabulous splurges, while others prove you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a great face cream! I love trying new skincare, and it’s always fun to discover a product that really delivers.
